You quoted my 4 month old post out of context.I'm pretty sure it's not $1000 per hour, maybe $100 per hour.
When purchasing any new vehicle, I always get a 3rd key and I think they charged me $200. When the new key came in, it took them 20 minutes to program it. Wasn't a big deal.
No.Does the PaaK count as a "key" so that you can program a missing FOB?
I don't know if there is a consensus. What is the consensus?
More discussion hereI have a Question:
I have the two key FOB's that came with my Truck,
I would like to make a third one, in case one is lost.
I see I can order one directly from FORD in Hamilton Ontario parts centre, about $140
I also see these Fobs on Toms Keys Company website, for about $87
then checking on Aliexpress they show what looks like the same Fob for $32 (with free shipping)
SO...what's up with the vast difference in prices, and is there a sercurity risk to the 'cheap' ones?
I sure don't need a Fob that reduces the security of the truck.
What is the consensus?
You need 2 in order to program another one. This is a security feature so the kid at valet parking can’t copy your key.Has anyone confirmed that you can program using one of the cheap knockoff fobs. For example if I lost one of my OEM fobs, would I be able to program a new one with one OEM fob and one already programmed Aliexpress one? or do you need both of the OEM fobs to program.
Apparently, from what I've read, the truck can only have four fobs in total at a time. So if you make two spares, you couldn't add another OEM one later without a trip to the dealer. Seems like a dumb artificial limitation to me but that's what I heard. FWIWMaybe good to get two spares, and put them in a safe place after programing and confirming they work. Thanks Guys.
Interesting. a few 2024's have reported 433. Did you look at one of your existing fobs like shown here:When I search it looks like the frequency is 315mhz
Good Question,Has anyone confirmed that you can program using one of the cheap knockoff fobs. For example if I lost one of my OEM fobs, would I be able to program a new one with one OEM fob and one already programmed Aliexpress one? or do you need both of the OEM fobs to program.
Thanks... I would appreciate that. We use both OEM fobs right now (wife has one). I was thinking about getting a cheap one just in case one of us lose one, but then thought, well what if the one of us that is still using the OEM fob loses it. Can we program another cheap one with the two we would have left (1-OEM & 1-knock off). I am assuming the answer is yes but my assumptions have been wrong before.Good Question,
If I get two cheap Fobs, I will try programing one with the other & an OEM to see.
