Looks like Ford believes it’s Tesla now and can lower / raise prices at no warning . There must have seen a huge uptick on online traffic going thru lighting info and searches. I think Ford realizes that and won’t have to worry about the cyber truck for another year.
What will be interesting if Chevy / gm can actually pump out some EV trucks with 400 range - by next summer ford needs to be able to show progress on that front with the lightning.
This is nothing new. Been this way for decades. Any offer is good until the company decides to retract it, increase it, decrease it. Has nothing to do with EVs.

Wow, this crazy. I had been waiting for a "In transit" since October and it just made it to the dealership this week.

Fortunately, I had found another one 2 weeks ago and did the paperwork over Docusign for it over thanksgiving. If I was still waiting for the in-transit one, it would have totally screwed me over since I had sold my Mach-E for it.

Lesson learned: don't trust the end dates on these promos.

So what would you all do if you are about to pick up a MY23 truck in December and were expecting a healthy year-end discount of $7500 but it gets pulled out from underneath you?

If I walk on this order, I'll order a MY24 truck with a "better" cabin heat system and potentially higher MSRP. Perhaps I shop around and find a better deal if the local franchise can't negotiate a lower price.

So Ford jumped at the story while they could. Gave nice incentives, got one good sales month, Farley tweeted about it and so that now have the best selling EV truck.

Incentives are just that, trying to get you to buy when otherwise you may not. I don't know that I've seen them end early, but it is amazing what competition can do.

I wouldn't buy a truck for $7,500 more than someone paid yesterday. So if that is how you feel you have to walk away.

I would also recommend just waiting it out, if you're still eligible for the federal tax credit next year. The 2023s will have to be moved when 24s arrive, their may be discounts on them, especially out of state.

For now: continue to look out of state, too. You may find a truck mid-west or east that is dealer discounted enough to make up for the lack of the incentives. Use cars.com to search and sort by lowest price, just make sure you double check the window stickers for range etc

It does not. You get whatever exists at time of purchase. Ford never guarantees offers until an expiration date, and dealers know that and should have told you to move your butt.
That may be the case, But I talked to the dealer on Saturday, and they had no clue this was coming. I dont buy cars like that, I dont do the buy now if you leave you might not get that deal. There will always be another deal and a dealer working to make a sale.

The dealers have no advanced notice of changing incentives. They know when we know.

Wow, amazing how things change so quickly. I posted a screenshot for an ad last night with the $7500 incentive and today, same vehicle is now shown WITHOUT the incentive:
Ford F-150 Lightning Lariat $7500 Retail Incentive, Is it gone? 1701906288771

AND, it seems they're asking $3500 dealer markup for the Pro.

Ordered in July. Built mid September. Still waiting. If the $7500 is gone when it finally arrives, I'm won't take delivery. Already pretty salty that I would be getting a MY 2023 on the doorstep of 2024.

Wow. That sucks. I was one of the lucky ones and picked mine up mid November. Got the 7500 Cash along with another 7000 off from the dealer on a stock order I had waited about 4 weeks for. I almost delayed it for a later arriving truck because I wasn't sure I wanted the power running boards he had ordered on it, but I think I can live with them now.

I was told yesterday by local dealer rep that the 7500 Lariat rebate / customer cash is now history ...

I checked out a Lariat last week, but didn't like what they were quoting me for my trade in. Was planning on checking out 2 more dealers with 2023s on their lots next week, but going to cancel those plans. Makes no sense for me to pay $7500 more a couple weeks later.

You win some and you lose some.

We bought our 2023 Lightning Lariat ER 2 months ago from dealer stock.
Minus Dealer Discount of $2,500, $7,500 rebate, $750 PCO and $339 Ford Pass points and $7,500 Tax Credit.
Plus $399 Dealer fee and standard Tax and title charges.

I bought 2 Telas Model Y's in the last 11 months. 2nd one cost us $20,000 less than the first one due to Price reductions and qualifying to tax credit.

See my signature for our current "fleet".

AGAIN: You win some and you lose some.
