I was wondering what people's MPK are when you drive with the windows down? I drive about 80% of the time with the windows down, so just something I'm curious about.

Thank you, and if I missed this info when searching, feel free to link it and delete this post.

Anyone that measures it would be challenged as to comparing exact situations - speed, wind, temperature, same stretch of road.

In an ICE vehicle, impact can be as much as a 20% hit.

On the highway, there is zero reason to have the windows down.

Mythbusters found that 50mph was the point that windows up with a/c was more efficient.

Personally, I keep my windows up 99% of the time, I prefer a quiet, controlled climate with the added bonus of somewhat filtering the air.

Yes, obviously lots of variables, but people talk all the time about their mileage towing, so I didn’t think it would be a big deal asking.
To my Canadian friend, if I lived up there I would drive 99% windows up as well ;) Obviously kidding, I used to live close to the border and would drive with the windows down during the summer all the time. I enjoy the windows down whenever I can, and in FL that is almost all year around. Plus, sometimes I enjoy a cigar.

Disagree.
Pickup truck with windows down on a back country highway on a nice summer day towing your boat to the lake is 100% reason to have the windows down.

Highway with 55mph limit is still worthy of window down. FL Interstates where everyone drives 80, not so much. I have yet to drive back from kayaking or taking a boat out with the windows up.

so, now that we see some people do drive with your windows down. What do you suspect the hit on mileage is? 10%? 20%? More?
I know if I asked about towing a trailer I would have gotten about 20 replies already ;)

When it isn't hotter than the Sun outside, I prefer windows down as well. Surface streets around my house are 45 mph and I often push that to 50mph. I see no difference in efficiency on average vs windows up. Mind you, that's with stop lights every mile or so and moderate to light traffic before I hit the freeway. I would hazard a guess that 55mph on a back highway would be closer to the 10% mark than 20%.

I’m mostly drive with my driver side windows at least cracked but I also crack open the rear window(Beer can window?) It creates a nice breeze of fresh air(unless you’re behind an ICE that has emissions problems!)
