I wouldn’t disagree with most of that but you are wrong about it not being a massive investment. It truly is and one that Fird still won’t get into. They even put it on their own dealers to have chargers installed. Tesla’s charging network is almost solely the reason EV’s will be successful.
And vast majority of those cases, they partner with local businesses who give them the property to use. You are not having to purchase property, you generally don’t have to go through many years to try to get an approval to install tanks, or deal with environmental issues on the same scale.

That is what I mean by it’s not as massive an investment.

As far as forcing,, the dealers to install chargers, yes, they absolutely needed to if they had any hope of selling non-Tesla vehicles. They’re trying to sell cars before there is much infrastructure and what does it tell you a manufacture wants you to buy their electric vehicle and their own dealers don’t know about them or want to install a charger.

i actually had a call on ford EV specialist today as my plug and charge cannot be activated for some weird reasons.
and I asked about Tesla supercharging plug and charge, the support staff told me they need to fix my plug and charge on the connectivity service first, then i should be able to do plug and charge on tesla supercharger.

exciting as it really makes my ford ev feel like tesla! and finally i don't need a elon musk car to access supercharger (sadly most of stations near me are V2, not supported but should be able to try the most nearby v3 that is about 80mi away)

I think some of you are missing the 2nd point of the plug and charge network. It's so ford can skim off a couple cents of every kw. Think about it... they are bringing people to your chargers and then buying the power at a lower wholesale rate then selling it back to you at retail. This is super smart on Ford's part. I'm sure the Tesla deal is very similar. Ford handles all the billing and Tesla gives them a litte of the transaction in return. Yes having the "Tesla" standard is nice but it's really no different than how the VHS vs Beta or HDDVD vs BlueRay wars were won. On the blueray side Sony finely won and got their cut. The adapter is not free it's an investment from Ford/Tesla for you to use their chargers.
I’m not disagreeing with you but I think there is a very real plus to using FordPass to activate chargers. I have a Ford VISA Rewards card linked to FordPass. When I use the card linked to the EA app the charge just gets listed as an EV charging purchase but when I use the FordPass app the charge gets listed as a Ford purchase.

I get much higher points with my Ford VISA Rewards card with a Ford purchase. If you never plan to get your Lightning serviced by Ford or you never plan to purchase anything again from Ford then the points won’t really matter to you. But if you want Ford to help you keep your Lightning in tip top condition then those points could really help out over time.

Plus you get to use Plug&Charge at EA chargers when you use the FordPass app. The rewards points takes a little bit of the sting out of the higher price using the FordPasd app to charge. I changed my EA Pass+ account to just a Pass account just in case I ever need it but I only plan to use the FordPass app to activate EA chargers from now on.
