New Features Coming? - per 2024 Lightning Owner's Manual (i.e. Walk Away Lock)

Ford just posted the 2024 Owner's manuals for the F-150 and F-150 lightning.

I don't have a Lightning yet so it's tough to say what's changed with the truck. I remember seeing here that they didn't have a "walk-away lock." This is now mentioned in the 2024 owners manual.

Do you see anything else that is new for 2024? Maybe some features that will be available to 22-23MY trucks via a software update?

Nice. I hope they OTA that update to all of us. It should be a standard feature for any proximity key (FOB, PaaK).

this. The 2022 manual had a feature to drive the truck with the FordPass app (to park in tight spots). Don’t think we’re ever getting that one.

I bet we get that feature the day after we get BC 1.4 which we will get before the end of the year. FOMOCO never explicitly said which year.

The Android FordPass app has a notification category for "Walk Away Lock". Maybe they plan on implementing it in the future, but who knows.

Also has notification settings In FordPass. When they announced the special edition Black Platinum they also said we would get the feature-eventually. That truck is not available yet, late availability.

We're also supposed to get generator mode and powered outlets while the truck is off in an OTA update if I remember correctly.

This is one they need to steal off Tesla, being able to set locations where you want walk away lock.

I am going to be the rare positive on this. I think Ford will send lots of new features to out trucks. I just hope they remember the venerable XLT and Pro owners and not just y’all rich money trucks

I've had a '21 MME that had WAL and now my '23 MME also has it, and I rely on that all the time...but my '22 Lightning doesn't, and since the difference is purely software from what I can tell, I've never understood why WAL wasn't enabled on the Lightning from the beginning.

Our '23 Ioniq 5 has that feature. Would never use it to park in a tight spot but it's super handy for moving the car out of the garage if I need it out but don't intend to drive it.

I'm hopeful a lot of stuff is coming. My truck is installing an update called "Smart Things" that takes 42 minutes. And no it isn't 6.8.0. I successfully installed that two night ago.
