I'm new to the concept of Forscan and FDRS. I have a few questions as I'd like to update my truck (2022 lariat er). Im comfortable with tech and am okay with tinkering, this is just new software / procedures for me.

I believe it's still stuck on BC 1.0 as my options only let me pretty much drive in a straight line. My Paak also is not functional since day 1 and have been waiting for a call back from a Ford tech for over a week after escalation. (I'd prefer not to have to take it in and have them keep the car more than a day over such a dumb issue)

Questions:

1) Do I need to make any changes with forscan prior to the to updating via fdrs?

2) is there any special accessories I need for updating via fdrs?

3) would anyone be able to check my Vin and tell me how dated my software is? Tech support told me I had a failed update and then told me nevermind it's latest version, overall very confusing.

There are sticky threads for FORScan and FDRS, highly recommend reading through those. They'll explain what's required and there are a lot of great tips.

1) No
2) Yes, you'll be spending $500 on an adapter and $300 on a power supply, plus the FDRS subscription.

3)Yes.

@cl_l Message me the VIN and I can check where your truck stands in terms of software.

I'll add that since no one will remember you own a 22 Lariat ER that you update your account details and change your Vehicles from the generic Lightning (uh, we all own one) to 2022 Lariat ER. This could help with future questions.

Also, you aren't really stuck on BC 1.0. Almost all 22-23's have that version. There are some Early Access members testing BC 1.4 so hopefully it will come soon via OTA.

All you can really do is make sure your LVB is charging properly. I bought my truck that sat on a lot for 7 months and couldn't get updates to save my life, waited for several months. Someone here or reddit recommend hooking my LVB to a trickle charge overnight. The next day an update popped up while driving to work and from then updates have came accordingly. If it was coincidence then so be it but I'm a sucker for a good anecdote. I went from 4.1 all the way up to current within a month and since then get updates as they roll out

Same issue. Missed an update due to LVB being low on the lot when I took delivery.

I took it to the dealer for a CSP and they took care of it while in for that visit. It took about 10 days, and they had to escalate pretty far up at Ford, but it eventually got updated and I'm running BC 1.4 now.
