Just hopped into my Lightning this morning after letting it charge at home (LVL II, full power - 80amps - 2022 Lariat).

As soon as I started it up, I saw the power to the motors (I think that’s the gauge on the upper left of the left side of the gauges) drop from 100, to 95, to 80, to 56.
Any idea what that might be or what might have caused that?

Did it remain after a reboot? I’ve had this once, 56% seems to be the number shown if the computer decides the front motor is unavailable for some reason. On/off cycle on the truck fixed mine. This seemed to be software update related in my case if i recall properly.

It could happen randomly, its happened to me before. Turn the truck off, lock and wait for 3 mins. It should go back to normal. Someone posted here a while ago they found a relation between airtags and the 56%. I dont recall the reasoning. Others say it can occur after downloading an update. Not sure of the rhyme or reason. As long as you didnt get the wrench after power cycle, your fine.

Seems to be a lot of this going around. It happens when the truck decides it can't use the front motor for some reason. It seems a bit suspicious to see multiple reports in such a short time. I wonder if it's related to some software update somehow.

I've had this happen to me about 10 times over 75,000 miles and it usually happens to me in wet conditions . As others have said it's the front motor cutting out and then a key cycle always fixes it. Anecdotally, it doesn't appear to be because of any software updates as it's happened to me back in June of 2022 and as recently as last month.

This phenomena occurred on my 22 Lariat-ER yesterday afternoon, noticed 56% power output and the power distribution display showed no activity on the front drive unit.

We, got home, shut down the truck for several minutes while I helped the misses put groceries away.

When I restarted the truck, available power went back to a normal level, the power distribution display showed the front drive active again.

I then charged the truck to 95% in preparation for Thanksgiving travels.

Today the truck ran perfectly all day.

I’ve had this happen 3-4 times. It looks like a software glitch.

Thank you everyone for the comments and advise. Like most of you commented…. - power cycle resolved the issue.
Not too much worried about it as it ran flawlessly through the thanksgiving shuffle but I always try and figure out what causes what in my vehicle.
Fingers crossed that was it but next service I’ll look for the updates to be made at the dealership as well

This is quite common and comes in waves as Ford rolls out updates to the drive train modules. It is not considered an update that requires immobilization so I believe it is generally applied shortly after starting a drive, but completes the update process shortly after powering off since it can't complete the final updates while driving. If you start the truck while it is still updating, this happens. Powering off the truck usually solves it because the update will be finished by then and all is good.
