Thank you. They called me a hour ago and said that the reason why my truck is throwing that service light is due to a failed heater/coolant problem to where supposedly the heater is not delivering enough heat to warm the battery up…hence now due to why the powertrain malfunction/reduced power? It makes sense but then it doesn’t make sense.
There have been a few of those failures in recent weeks, most likely the diverter valve is not rerouting the hot glycol loop toward the battery, it becomes critical this time of year especially if you're living in a freezing climate.

Did they give you the work ticket? Please post, I think these help us. Sorry, I was hoping the bulk of these were behind us, and weren't coming in 2024 models. So disappointing ...
Here it is. Let me know if this helps clarify the concern.

Christmas Eve as we were returning home I got the dreaded yellow wrench and the message “Service Vehicle Soon”. Fortunately my dealer, Grappone Ford in Concord, NH, has the best service department I have ever seen. I sent an email to my service rep and service technician yesterday afternoon and got a response this morning at 7:35 AM (!) asking me to bring the truck in ASAP. They gave me a loaner, and by the time I got home they had diagnosed it as cell #76 in Module 7. The parts are already on order.

This is the second time I have had to have a Module replaced because of a failing cell. The first time was last February, Cell #96 in Module 9, at about 11,000 miles. So, Lightning (no pun intended) can strike twice on these batteries. 😟

‘22 Lariat ER. Currently 21,000 miles. April 2022 build date.

Unfortunately, I'm joining this group as well.

2023 Lariat ER bought Feb 2024, unsure of build date since the truck is currently at the dealership and I forgot to capture that info beforehand (will add that once I get my truck back). ~8200mi.

Got the Powertrain Malfunction / Reduced Power + wrench + service soon note on my dashboard on 12/20/2024. Power limited to 57%; unsure of charge capacity limit since it was under 60% the whole time and didn't think to charge it to its max. Dropped it off at the dealership on Monday 12/23 - the service dept said they're pretty fully booked and will try to work in my truck for someone to look at. It's Christmas week - I get it. They said they couldn't get me a loaner until they've diagnosed the issue and have an idea as to how long it'll take for the repair to be completed, which I think is absolutely dumb. Thankfully, I've been able to borrow my roommate's car in the meantime as they're out of town.

I received zero phone calls from them over the course of the week. Called them on Friday 12/27 for an update - was forwarded to the service rep's phone but he never picked up. I left a couple voicemails but was never called back. I called again on Saturday 12/28 and the 'receptionist' /call operator of the service department said they haven't looked at it yet and they expect they'll get to it early next week.

I plan on calling the BEV team first thing Monday to at least get someone from corporate to be aware and help track this issue, and to also figure out a loaner situation for me. I worry this issue may drag out or appear again. IF it continues and gets past the lemon law thresholds, I'm going to request a buy-back. If they deny, I'm afraid I'll have to involve a lemon law attorney to step in. My vehicle directly affects my job and I cannot risk having an unreliable truck, no matter how much I've loved driving it so far.

This is the second time I've had to leave my truck at the dealership now. First time (Sep 2024) was due to frunk not opening after 6 inches + several parking sensors going off whenever shifted to reverse (about 75% of the time). After a week or so, frunk issue and parking sensor issues were fixed and got my truck back. After another week, the driver-side tailgate corner's sensor started going off whenever shifted to reverse again (90% of the time now). I didn't bring it back thinking I can just address it when I bring it in for the 10k mi maintenance.

So now I'm here, one week into the 2nd stint at the shop. Really hoping this powertrain malfunction / reduced power issue goes away for good after this, but honestly not very hopeful after seeing so many of y'all experience the same issue.

Just over a year of ownership and I've received the Powertrain Malfunction, Service Soon error FOURTEEN TIMES. Most recently yesterday. It's never done anything wrong for me: just usually have to sit and do a quick on-and-off, sure.

But only did I realize that when the error plagues the truck whilst driving, the tail light goes completely red as if I'm parked, even though I'm driving on the road. This means that BRAKE LIGHTS BECOME NON-FUNCTIONAL.

Signals work just fine. But absolutely no one can tell that I'm slowing down due to this issue.

(Photo may be too long vertically such that the text had become too small and blurry, but rest assured there's 14 of them in here)

I'd have the truck checked out for wiring harness / connector issues, might be a simple fix with the rear lighting system.

I hope today gives you some good feedback, there should be a loaner delivered to you. Good luck!

There must be another dealer in Denver? You can take the truck to any dealer.

Well, add me to the list. After a charge to 90% this morning. Went to go to the gym, got the wrench and the limited power, service soon warning. have had the truck for almost 8 months. Bought used with 20 something thousand miles on it. Now sitting at 36,807 miles. Tried the 12v battery disconnect and made sure the battery cables were clean and tight. While the negative cable was disconnected I put it on charge to make sure battery is good, and did a load test. Passed. Hooked battery back up. Still the same. Screen shot of the Forscan Code reader. Is there any new info on this problem! I've been reading through all the posts I can Find!
And will not charge on level 1 or 2 either, haven't tried fast charge. Luckily still showing 58% power available on 82% soc. So, I will drive it to the dealer after the Holiday.

*Update* This was what they diagnosed it with and fixed (Cabin Coolant Heater Failure). The part took 4 days to come in and then 1 day to replace once they got the part. Hopefully the rest of everyone’s problem can be this problem since it seems this was an easy fix compared to having to rip apart the battery.

Thanks for sharing the good news, this is the retail cost of the part they changed, it's the PTC heater, needed to warm the cabin (2022 & 2023) and battery conditioning in cold weather charging (all model years).

I am surprised about the number of steps and amount of work required to replace the cabin heater.

Glad your back in action.
Thank you! Man I loved this damn truck but I’m very disgruntled after reading everyone’s problems. I feel like once the boat has already sprung leaks then they’ll just keep popping up until the boat sinks. I freaking hope this isn’t the case since it wasn’t a battery problem but still. Everyone have a great new year!

is it possible I didn’t condition my battery correctly or would this be a problem no matter what. I told them that the vehicle seemed odd from the get go with the windows constantly fogging up and they said it might’ve been the new acoustic glass….yeah ok. Now after replacing this the window haven’t really fogged up as badly as they did prior.

Well, I have an appointment Thursday morning. We'll see what's what. Already made contact with the BEV team. They just noted my issue. But said they really don't get involved until the vehicle has been diagnosed by the service department. But did say to call back with any issues, like not getting a loaner.
