Range loss after recall

2023 Lariat ER (4000 miles) went to the dealer for a water leak in the roof so I had them do the HV battery module software recall service while it was there. After getting the vehicle back the 90% charged range shows 259 mi. It was at 320 mi for 90% charge before the service. Dealer says it's due to "cold weather" and that this is normal and unrelated to the service. Has anyone else experienced this? It's 48 degrees today, will this get even worse when it starts to get really cold?

that seems about right to me. Id rather see the lower number and it be (kind of) accurate than to see 320mi @90% in cooler temperatures that you know you would never achieve.

The battery pack needs to rebalance and recalibrate after the module replacement, this is expected.

Don't place too much faith in the range estimate anyway.

How long did they have the truck?

We're up to a week now, and I guess they are getting us a rental truck?

Making it hard to succeed the way they are handling these.

Just reset the GOM. The dealership probably just drove like they stole it and it knocked the guesstimate down.

At dealer around 10 days, but most of that was for the leaky roof. I made sure I'd get a loaner before making the appointment and had to book the service a few weeks out. They gave me a Mach E loaner - shocked at how slow/sluggish Mach E is compared to my Lightning and Model Y.

My truck drops to display the 259 (260) based on outside temperature. It doesn’t mean it’ll actually get that…heck I’ve never gotten the 320 it displays. That said, you can also get higher as it drops to 100 automatically in tow mode but I go further.

We call it a guess o meter for a reason.

My truck drops to display the 259 (260) based on outside temperature. It doesn’t mean it’ll actually get that…heck I’ve never gotten the 320 it displays. That said, you can also get higher as it drops to 100 automatically in tow mode but I go further.

We call it a guess o meter for a reason.
Not really counting on the range number to be accurate, just questioning whether the sudden drop that happened immediately after the battery service was due to some service problem or whether it was normal weather-related issue.

The range displayed on the gauge display is closer to a random number generator than the number of miles you can drive at a given SOC.

The number of posts on the GOM is inversely proportional to the average daily temperature above the 40th parallel.🙄

I agree with Jim. Reset the history on your truck. Vehicle settings, stroll to the bottom of the page, find Reset History, hold the reset for 3-5 sec or until it's reset and you will see the GOM change. I do this often to reset the GOM. Also look at your SOC% indication. You might see
200miles to empty but with 90% charge.
Trust your SOC indication. The onboard computer will readjust as you driving to your destination. Eventually, you become the GOM from your experience.
Neat trick you going to learn.

Thanks I experienced this too. After my recall service things seemed to really change. Coincidentally temps dropped into the 40’s and things really seemed off. I‘ve owned ev’s for years so I do understand winter cold weather effects. I have to do this reset!

Yes, the range will drop further as it gets colder.

320 is the EPA range. Having that at 90% says you drive really slow.

My range is like 275. In the winter, I expect that to drop close to 200.

PEOPLE... please stop thinking in terms of "miles". Not all miles are created equal!

I had this update recently. At first I noticed reduced range but after a charge or two it seems to be pretty much where it was before the update.
