Cold weather and your driving style will have a huge effect on total range. I live in the northeast and get only 1.8/kwh on the highway doing 72 mph when its cold outside.

That silly number isn’t your range.

hi just a newbie not sure what's up
No problem….pay attention to your miles per kWh (or whatever you use in Canada) in concert with the state of charge. If you minimize the “This trip” app, it shows in the tile.

What you have is about 73% of ideal, for comparison my ER is about 78% of ideal at this point in the spring season and recent aggressive highway driving. [191 miles at 76% SOC], I could drive further than 191 miles if I moderate my driving style and conditions.

Look at the efficiency ratings miles per kilowatt hours {MPK} on your trip meters.

Try resetting your driver history, charge to 100%, you'll likely see the ideal value, possibly better as several members have pointed out recently, but don't let the ideal values fool you, what your truck can provide is highly dependent on outside conditions, wind, speed and battery conditioning, BTW, only condition the battery if you're doing long haul trips, otherwise it's a waste of energy.

sw engineering manager,
Note that EPA Range of EV's is based on a blend of the range on the EPA "highway" (55%) and "city" (45%) courses and then multiplied by 70%. The EPA highway course has an average speed of only 48 miles per hour and a maximum speed of 60 mph. The EPA City course has an average speed of under 20 MPH with most driving peaking 30-35 MPH and only one small section at 50 MPH.

The Start/Stops on the EPA City Course would normally reduce the mileage in an ICE car, but they play into the strengths of an EV with regen.

Air drag increases with velocity squared! The difference between the EPA average of 35 from the above two course and driving on the highway at a sustained 70 mph is a big deal - 4X the Drag!

Even if you divide out the 70% fudge factor, the math suggests that the real world 70mph freeway range is going to be a lot lower than the EPA rating.

Reposting here from an older post about range estimations and the estimated range indicator aka "Guess-o-Meter"on the dash:

"As a wise older engineer once told me: "Electricity is not a liquid. You can measure water or gasoline or diesel or kerosene or coal almost exactly, by volume and by weight. Stored electricity can only be measured by its potential to do work".

When I switched to EV driving years later, I began to understand what that old engineer had shared with me.

Hence, the Guess-o-Meter on our EV vehicles. It tries to estimate the potential to do work by our vehicle-stored electricity. It's always an ever-changing estimate and not an actual measure of physical weight or volume. It's not wrong in what it tries to do... we users have to un-train ourselves from a lifetime habit of measuring fuel by physical attributes (gallons / liters / pounds etc.) and then our GOMs might become more useful to us."

Hope this is helpful.

In gas vehicles you only get the EPA mileage estimate in ideal driving conditions. It's no different for EVs.

That seems about right as well. I have 2024 Lariat ER and get 400km on 100% charge on the guess-o-meter right now. Did a drive out to Sarnia from Toronto before and actual distance was 355km with about 20km left when I got to a DCFC charging station. As the weather gets warmer, you should see an uptick in range. I took delivery back in Oct of 2024 and was showing closer to 500km range when driving off the lot when it was warmer.
