The plunger for the charging port broke off and is stuck inside the release gate. We bought a replacement locking pin for the charge port door but can't install it until we get the broken plunger out from the previous one. Is there a way to pop it out manually?

Might just consider leaving it alone and installing a pair of magnets to hold it closed.

Had mine open while using the drive through car wash. Have used it weekly and only happened 1 time..fortunately nothing broke or snapped off with the rotating brushes.

Did this for my wife's Mach-e and she really prefers it with the magnets!

I've seen a few threads on Lightning and MME charge doors being popped off by car washes. My older ICE car had an electric lock pin on it to latch it closed. It is a much better design than the push-pin setup we have. It is simpler, stronger and less prone to snow and ice challenges as well.
