The truck is almost 2 years old.

Full range has always been 330 miles. Charging to 80% had been 263 +-

Now, I am guessing, some software update had changed the definition of max range. Charging to 80% is now about 235 or 295 for max range. .

Or, there are 10 battery modules which are about 33 miles per module, and one has just failed.

Isn't 300 miles the advertised max range of the large battery pack?

I would prefer to think that the software "gurus" decided that we should only have what we paid for, over the idea that a bunch of battery packs all died at the same time.

That 30 miles I just lost has become the 'reserve' tank from the old days?

Opinions?

2 years and you don't understand the impact of winter?

If you had a failed module you would be seeing the system trouble messages related to the battery, BTW it has nine modules

Cooler conditions, even for Austin Texas will impact range, but it's possible FoMoCo revised the algorithm to its roots, which were very conservative and pessimistic at this time of year through out the 'cold' season.

At some point, maybe last fall 2022 or early 2023 we noticed a more optimistic projection, typically above 80% where imputed range was closer to the specification of 320 miles (excluding Platinum which is 300 miles)

Winter? It is still 80 degrees here. The visit into the fortys is still occasional. This is not winter. I charge during the day.

I get those facts, what I'm saying is that your suspicion that the rules have changed might be on point, so you're seeing a temporary depreciation in range projections.

There could be a flaw in the logic where the truck is taking the national profile, recall the promotions by Ford that they are always factoring our driving experiences based on seasonal & location based conditions, your truck might think it's in Nome Alaska if the data is actually off kilter.

@Bandit216 our Alaskan member along with many Canadian members are likely seeing realistic reductions in range now.

Here in Southern New England it's 48°

I'm charged to 90% with a projected range of 271 miles
If I factor it for 100% that would be 301 miles and for 80% it would be about 241 miles.

I've seen a consistent winter loss of ~40% with both my Lightning and my Mach E over 2 and 3 winters, respectively. Both vehicles have winter tires and are driven on the fast side of average. It appears both vehicles don't get much worse than that regardless of temperature. I'm guessing that's because the electric draw for the cabin heat and battery heat maxes out at some point and just stays there. Both vehicles are kept in a heated garage at home, and plugged in to a level 2 charger at work. I don't typically set departure times when parked outside - I just do a remote start.

The larger heater in the Lightning does allow the cabin to get plenty warm down to -40. That's not the case in the 2021 Mach E with it's smaller heater - it struggles in very cold temps.
