The cool start up and shut down sounds stopped playing on my truck. I didn’t notice it until 1 day they started playing again randomly. But then stopped again. What’s that all about? Is there a setting?

Though us plebes in the lower trims have a not so cool sound as the Plati's, sometimes ours also goes astray, no idea why but it eventually comes back, likely a boot-up error during start.

I havd noticed that if I have my seatbelt fastened when I hit the Start button, all I get is a single beep instead of the do-do-do sound.

I'm pretty sure they're the same sounds. Sounds like other Ford and Lincoln vehicles I've been in.

Grab your nearest 10 mm wrench and disconnect your 12 v battery for about 10-15 minutes. Let the modules all completely reset.

Have you listened to the startup sound in a non platinum?

The couple times I rode in the platinum , it had a distinctly different tone / melody than my Lariat-ER

I've only test driven a Lariat and I wasn't paying attention to the noises. To my ear my truck sounds like a Ford but I've never paid close attention I suppose.

In my platinum, i get 3 different sounds at varying times when starting. I usually get a startup tone that sounds distinctly different than the high pitched do-da-do, then, sometimes I get a completely different sound like a wha-paaa sound like a wind up and a slap on a snare drum.
After the do-da-do sound, all of my tones in the truck are off, back up sensors do a beep rather than a less harsh tone until I shut it off and hope the next start boots correctly. Very annoying. That coupled with terrible dealer support and lack of any understanding of what software should be running on my truck has me thinking of getting a hideous cyber truck. At least Tesla knows software. My Model Y and Model S have been great vehicles, up to date and really good service experiences here in Cypress, TX.

Cool sounds came back for a start cycle yesterday. Even the warning sounds are cooler. But after turning off. Back to the old school chime. The weirdest most annoying issue.

I do not own a Platinum so there may indeed be a special startup sound. However for most trucks, there is no start-up sound. There IS a 3-chime (do-do-do) sequence that plays 4 times if you start your truck with the seat belt unbuckled.

That 3-chime sequence will not play if you press start with your seat belt buckled.

Secondly, sometimes the seat belt chime plays from the puny Instrument Cluster speaker ("not cool" sound) and sometimes it plays over the audio system ("cool" sound).

Here is a video cued up to a spot where you can hear all of this. The first time he starts, the seat belt chimes play from the puny instrument cluster speaker. A few seconds later he starts the truck again and the chime plays over the nicer stereo system. (Added note: while this is a key fob programming video, it still demonstrates sounds when starting).

For those interested, the unbuckled seat belt warning depends on region. In the US, it chimes at truck start. In Europe, it chimes once you are driving. This can be changed in FORScan.

I think that was a video showing how to program keys

Yeah I know that, but the sounds are because he is starting the truck without a seat belt. Sounds have nothing to do with programming keys.

It's just a good example of the sounds the truck makes when you start it.

Yeah. Those are the not cool sounds. Mine once in a while plays cool sounds. I guess through the speakers. 12v battery checks out. But I think that’s the problem. Dealer has been no help. I have videos of the cool sounds but can post here

You can post to YouTube and include the link. Us lowly Lariats need to know what we're missing. :)

It's weird that the sounds sometimes come from the IPC speaker and sometimes come from the audio. There is a thread or two just on that phenomena.

Even the warning sounds in Bluecruise sound cooler when it starts up with the cool sounds. Really annoying.
