Years ago a company I worked for had a mandate to layoff close to 30% of the company when the stock market crashed (no, not that crash, before that). We were given instructions to make a list. I argued that my department (5) was indispensable, and could not be laid off. No one was in my small group. No one above us said "you have the gall to say NO to me?"

Sandy Munro is an engineer. He runs a company with 50 employees, and revenue of $10.9 million. Has he ever run a department of 500 people? He may be a good engineer, and maybe a good CEO of his company, but saying Musk has a fiduciary responsibility to justify what he did is simply bullcrap.

we've survived without Superchargers(we've grown to accept it, even before this happened)
Teslas can survive without Superchargers(they may not like it, though)

Sandy Munro has his take on the whole thing here; it's a very different perspective than what a lot of other people are saying/feeling. 🤔

If Sandy knows for a fact that only design and marketing SC team was fired, he has a point. If not, he is full of shit. Based on the fact that SC build out partners don't seem to know what's going on, I suspect it's the latter.

I've only done a little bit of road tripping in our '22 Mustang Mach-E and had never touched a NACS plug until a few weeks ago. I'll happily continue road tripping regardless of what happens with the NACS network.

EDIT: My snark aside, I do hope the NACS network is maintained and grows whether brand-T is involved or not. The more options the better.

Sandy is letting the koolaid get to him

one ENGINEERING reason to keep the SC team mostly intact. The Cybertruck uses 800V architecture. Currently no SC can output enough voltage to make use of that capability. Even at the current reduced 250kwh, the charge handles and pins get so hot, that YouTubers are placing damp rags on the SC handles to maintain a decent charge rate. Seems like an ENGINEERING problem to me.

Sandy has lost a lot of credibility the longer he drinks from the fountain of Elon

Rumor Mill:
BP Looking to buy Tesla Superchargers.

https://www.reuters.com/business/au...r-sites-us-bloomberg-news-reports-2024-05-09/

**Not a whole lot of substance in the article and not even traceability to why they are claiming that, but..

I wonder if there's going to be a shift for Tesla to be a manufacturer and let BP own, lease, manage, operate the sites....there goes the uptime.
That reads like a misinterpretation of what the CEO of BP Pulse actually said. I don't think they want the sites with existing supercharger installations.

The statement was:
“If there are stranded real estate partners who are looking for someone to call, they should feel free to pick up the phone and call me or look me up on LinkedIn,” Sujay Sharma, chief executive officer of bp pulse Americas, said in an interview with Bloomberg.

Last year, BP Pulse signed a contract for $100M of supercharger hardware. They're looking for locations to install their hardware. I do wonder how much hardware they've actually received and if they'll actually get everything they were promised.

Related to this idea, I recently received a survey asking leading questions about a Toyota-BP relationship for expanding charging options.

Competition is always a good thing for the customer. I welcome the $500 million investment and hope to see more announcements in the future from others.

Its so nice to be able to use the Tesla network on road trips as long as you have an adapter. It's also nice being able to choose between CCS or NACS.

For this summer I plan to use the A2Z Tesla Supercharger adapter until the official OEM adapters is in my hands.

Bit off topic but I crossed the Prairies earlier this year and I was AMAZED how much a head wind kills your range. Since I had plenty of time at chargers to think about it 🤣 it does make sense. All the same increase in drag as if you were driving that much faster, but without covering more ground like if you actually were driving that much faster. Have to draft behind a truck if you need the range.

I sure hope cooler heads prevail at Tesla. The Supercharger network is the one thing that Tesla haters and fans alike all agree is a huge success. Don't know about the financials but it basically single handedly dragged EVs into the mainstream by making long distance travel feasible.
VERY TRUE.
