You have an incorrect understanding of the functionality. In fact, Stop and Go is designed to do EXACTLY THAT, resume from a stop to the set speed.
I was not talking about stop and go. Yes you are correct only if you leave it in cruse and the truck stops on its own due to the vehicle in front of you stops. But if curse is not turned on in your truck, you either hit the brake or you turn it off at the steering wheel, then the truck will not resume cruse under 10 MPH.

Not correct.

If I hit the brake, and then hit resume from a stopped condition, it will in fact resume'.

In addition, if I am sitting stopped, I can set it to a speed, and once I can go, and hit resume it will start accelerating to that speed. I've done this specifically.

You added an extra step. @husky10101 I think is saying
1. Cancel cruise
2. Come to a complete stop
3. Lift off the brake
Truck will not resume cruise

In your situation, you added...
3. Hit resume button
4. Lift off the brake
Truck resumes cruise

The second incident made me wonder if the brake pedal and gas pedal are just closer than what I was used to on my Fusion and perhaps I was stepping on both pedals at the same time.

Anyone else encounter similar issues?
^^ This would be my guess.

I got new boots recently that are a bit larger than in the past. I felt the same thing, the car stuttering as if ABS engaged while not slowing down.

Fortunately, no one has been in front of me and I figured it out before going through an intersection or into other cars.

After a couple incidents, I moved where I rest my heel and I've been good.

On the one hand, PEBCASW? PEBCAP? On the other, maybe move the pedals apart a bit? Not sure what the standard is.

Just went out and tried what you said. Was in cruse. stopped using the brake. Came to a complete stop. Hit resume and the dash gave me a message saying cruse will not enable at this speed and it did not resume. Hitting the brake cancelled, turned off the cruse.

Needs to be a safety recall. The cruise control button needs to be a long press for activation. I've accidentally hit the button twice in a parking lot while turning and the truck launched forward.

You were stepping on both.

The brake pedal pushes on a physical cylinder that compresses brake fluid into the brake cylinders of each wheel, compressing the brake pads against the disks on each wheel. No different than the brakes of any car built in the last 40 years. It is physically impossible for the the brake pedal to not actuate braking pressure on the wheels.

If the F150, or any other vehicle, accelerates when you step on the brake, then you're stepping on the wrong pedal or both pedals. Virtually every incidence of "it accelerated when I was stepping on the brake" is stepping on not the brake.

There are use cases for stepping on both on purpose. Mainly for traction purposes, forcing the open or limited slip differential to apply power to both wheels when one is on ice or mud. This is also going to make the traction control kick in, which sounds like what you are describing.
I think for safety reasons when you step on both pedals the brake pedal will take priority.

How fast were you going in the parking lot? It already has an alert that pops up and says something like "Cruise cannot resume because you're going less than 25MPH" or something like that.

But if you're going 30 in a Walmart parking lot, and accidentally hit that button, yes it'll launch you quicker to 60-70 whatever you got it set at.

I believe I experienced that "surge" one time.. but I was on a main road.

Never seen this warning on my 22 Lariat, I've activated, set & resumed CC at 19-20 MPH routinely to stay in spec through school speed camera zones in RI

With my Mach-E, I have sat at a traffic light, set my cruise, and then come off the brake and hit resume and off I got. No reason the Lightning would be different.

Just pulled out of a parking space... Less then 5mph turning the wheel to straighten out and truck launched forward. Happened twice. Cruise was illuminated on both occasions. Must have depressed the bottom while turning.
