Tired of setting drive mode every single time I drive

Is there any hope Ford will make the drive modes stick instead of resetting to default every time you start the truck? It's gotten beyond annoying having to peck a tiny virtual button at the upper left hand corner of the huge screen, wait for a few seconds for the screen to load the drive modes... peck on the "sport" button at the middle of the huge screen and then peck back up at the little button at the upper left corner to bring me back to my navigation screen... just so I can maintain the exact same drive mode I use every single time I start the truck. Yes I know there is a "return to sport?" prompt on the dash immediately after starting it up but I almost always miss it as it disappears quickly. Hoping that if enough people complain, Ford will come to their senses and stop resetting the drive mode. It's annoying at best and dangerous at worst considering I have to take my eyes off the road for so long every time I drive.

I think it's a great prompt and is a good compromise. You just need to adjust your startup procedure so you can action the pop-up.

I agree with the premise that you should have a 'default' Drive Mode that you like and always want to start with ... it's not that difficult. Matter-of-fact, sometimes if I miss the 'prompt' to stay in 'SPORT' mode, which is my go-to Drive Mode, I can easily and suddenly find the truck 'coasting' quickly to a stop sign at the end of my street, rather than do what I expect, which is a great amount of regeneration...

'MODES' to me are nothing more than 'comfort' drive settings... let us owners decide which one we want to always have in play, and let us 'pick' another, if we so choose.

One thing I do is save the 'Drive Mode' screen as the 'customizable' button on my PRO's screen, at the bottom set of icons. If I miss the initial prompt, and the screen is not already in the 'Mode' screen, I can touch that single button to access the 'Mode Screen', and then touch 'SPORT' mode. I think this is still too much to have to do every single time I get in the truck and turn it ON, but... it is what it is, at least for now.

On the Mach-E, default mode is tied to profile. Pick Unbridled, push setting button on door until it beeps. Why Ford chose to do the Lightning differently is incomprehensible, but it isn’t tied to profile. Nor does it always ask the question.

Just one of many things....like why there's no "Walk Away Lock" capability..... like on the Mach-E.

Walk away lock, option to open all windows on Ford Pass, drive mode, etc etc etc…

But don’t worry, we’ve been working hard on making improvements….. here’s a Powerup update which you have received before. We won’t tell you what’s improved but remember, our engineers have been working hard in the background….

What is the compromise? For there to be a "compromise" you must be implying there's a benefit to automatically turning off the drive mode with zero input from the driver. Please advise of what this benefit is because I can't think of one. As noted, the disabling of the drive mode is dangerous for driving as it's distracting and forces the driver to take their eyes off the road to revert back to where it was last set. This is isn't just a flick of a switch, turn of a dial or press of a single physical button, but involves a delayed response, multi-press, virtual button dive within the massive touch screen. As another commentor noted and something I forgot to mention, this "feature" also forces the vehicle to behave differently every time you drive as the regen is adjusted down significantly in "normal" mode. This forces you to have to use the brake suddenly and inconsistent to your last drive. A drive mode that may affect things like suspension tuning or ac settings aren't as safety critical as braking behavior but all cars still have memory settings for features like this. For Ford to reset the vehicles' braking behavior at every start up is dangerous and completely nonsensical. But I'm open to the rationale behind this if there is any.

My Hundai does the same thing. Must be to maximize power economy or in the case of my Hundai, gas. Another post mentioned peddle release in Sport mode engaged regeneration earlier therefore increased miles per kw/h?

I use off road mode occasionally so it's a nice reminder before I go somewhere I don't want the diff locked.

I tow also and if I use tow mode to deliver a load I am then prompted so I go back to normal.

I've even gone in and out of sport mode while driving. It's a total of 2 presses on and 2 presses off at the most.

Leaving it locked in sport mode is dangerous. The power might be too much for the next driver.

The next driver would have their own settings on their Particular profile.

I agree it’s easy enough to press ok when it asks you if you want to go back into sport mode. My Golf R does the same thing, it defaults to Sport every time.

But the option should be there for the owner, it’s not that hard.

Yup, hate this behavior as well. Mach-e is so much better.

I just gave up and drive in normal. I will say I also prefer the blue gauges to the white in sport mode. Wish those were user selectable too.

Off Road and Tow are different animals than Sport.
Should be the option to tie mode to a profile.
Sport isn't that different, but I certainly like the display colors better.

My sport mode gauges are black, which I like.
