I live in upstate NY and we are just digging out from the storm yesterday.

During the storm I took my wife’s Rivian out for a spin. I found it had a snow mode where it lowers the aggressiveness of the regen breaking and lowers the pickup to avoid the torque spinning wheels and sliding the truck. The weight of the truck, all terrain tires and the snow mode made the Rivian snow driving a dream.

We really need a snow drive mode for the Lightning. I’ve definitely found myself sliding because of blipping the throttle too hard or stepping off the gas to quick and the regen kicking in. It feels like it could be done as a software update.

I found standard mode worked really well for snow versus Sport that I keep it in normally.
I do exactly the same and never use one pedal.

I disagree and believe that this is more of a driver problem than a problem with current throttle mapping. Also, regen is fine in winter conditions just as long as you don't treat the throttle like an on-off switch. How else have other EVs with regen and no way to turn off or dial down the inversion strength manage to operate in the snow after all these years?

I don’t think that’s correct. I’ve had advanced driver training due to being in the fire service.

I can drive the Lightning in the snow. I’m just saying the Rivian snow mode makes it levels above the Lightning in the snow.

What regen are we talking about here? Normal mode with 2pd drive is really really tame. I agree that a soft throttle mode wouldn't be bad, but depending on setting regen can be almost non-existent.

I would be game for a Snow Mode. If Ford were to do so, I hope they make so that it can tell the difference between ice, snow, and mud. Traction control has probably gotten me in more trouble in the last 20 years than it has gotten me out of. Turn the traction control OFF when busting a drift or pushing mud stupid!

I also live in the lake effect snow area of New York and was surprised when looking in the drive mode tab that there was no snow mode especially since there is a snow flake on the tab!
