Now the big question, does destination count towards the MSRP?

Also, will Ford drop the Lariat price, raise the XLT price or something else based on this limit

I don't think so. The bill only references MSRP and on the window sticker you always see MSRP and then a separate destination charge.

I'm 99% sure the $74k limit would not take into acct destination.

I was looking to purchase a Lariat with the extended battery, but that looks like it will push the pricing over $74k. If the base trim level pricing before options needs to be under that, then a Lariat instead of a Lariat+ could be ordered and loaded up with options to bring it close to a Lariat+ (I can live without the moon roof and blue cruise). Will be interesting to see what shakes out.

I went and read the bill and with the clarification of MSRP being under $74k, that will be what I have to work with staying under in some way. It may push me down into an XLT instead of Lariat as the extended battery will drive a base Lariat most likely above $74k.

If that limit stays I really hope Ford can get a Lariat with ER battery under 74k. Otherwise it's XLT+ with ER for me. I'm not giving up 12.5k for leather and a few other luxuries.

Big question for me is going to be up in the air until the build price tool comes online. Can I add a moonroof to a Lariat base? Can I add some options from the Lariat+ and go with a SR battery? Could make a difference. I'm looking at a Powerboost for about 60k with everything I want. Lightning is compelling because it's electric but 60k is already a lot to spend on a vehicle in my eyes. I would hope the Lightning is close to ICE pricing. Expecting it to be more, of course, but not by a crazy amount.

Man, that's a kick in the groin for the Extended Range Lariat. By the pricing survey, it'll go over the $74000 cap by almost $500. Even if Ford lowers the price by $500, you won't be able to pick up any options.

So if I do get a Lightning, it will definitely be an extended range XLT+.


Maybe this bill really was the reason Ford delayed opening the order bank.

Ask Ford to lock battery to SR now and charge you $7000 later to unlock the extra 70 miles range.

I can't imagine MSRP won't mean base price + options. Looks like it will be an XLT ER for me if the reconciliation bill goes through as written.

It is possible that Ford would adjust the MSRP of trims and options to make an Lariat ER possible within the $74K constraint. They could also raise the XLT price to take the credit into account but this seems less likely. I don't think they'll touch the Pro SR price because they've been so public about that one.

Either way, I'm happy. If I can't get a Lariat ER with the credit I'll get an XLT ER and save a lot of money. If they lower the price of the Lariat ER to hit the threshold, I'll get a better deal on the trim than I would have before.

Edit: Perhaps it was wise for Ford not to activate their configurator and order system for the Lightning. There would be a lot of confusion and order changes if this bill had been passed after they opened.

You mean pg1240...it was 1868 in the previous version before mods. I didn't see anything that changed wrt EVs....they just got rid of the Paid Leave and Climate stuff Sen Manchun didn't like
@greenne Sorry. There are two versions that were released today. The first was 2468 pages! We're on page 1868 of that version and on page 1240 of the shorter version as you pointed out.
