The manual does a good job of explaining its use. But to further explain: your car will go back into park when the door is opened, even if you have the shifter in N. Most likely similar to a automatic transmission, a solenoid actuated pawl prevents the reduction gear from turningOn a related thought, what does putting the Lightning in "Park" actually do? I am assuming something physically engages somewhere in the drive line to prevent the wheels from rotating but does anyone know exactly what happens?

so this only needed when exiting the car and you want it to stay in neutral up to 30minutes? I can’t ever see needing this in my life
