I have the same version number, but never got any kind of notice. Will try to set amps back to 80 tonight and see what happens (been at 60 since started having issues with trips).

Did they send you that screencap? I’m assuming you don’t live at ford headquarters
Yeah they sent that. They said it should match that screenshot.

I have the same version. I only has mine installed/connected for 1 day, never received notice of any installed update.

It is great that the truck is being supplied with the evse. It is a problem that the evse can't seem to handle its rated output. If you have to turn it down to 64amp for it to run properly then it is a 64amp evse. Is this a future recall waiting to happen? Sure it can be turned down, but then it isn't delivering what we "paid for". What's the difference in cost between a 64 amp and 80 amp evse?
Well at some point it becomes class action, or Siemens/Ford recall replace.
takes time and people with same issue. When temps is in 70’s especially as we head towards fall and even southeners and westerners have reasonable temps. - yup a 64amp charge station isn’t what we all paid for - though included “free” with purchase of er battery.

I’d contend it is “priced in” rather than “free!”

I see now that mine is updated to this too. What were your results? I’ll be home again tomorrow and going to try charging at 80A and see what happens with the new version too.

That was I placed “free“ in quotes.

*** surprised no one is hypothesizing that the update might just be software derating the charger ???**

wouldn’t that be the easiest solution from Ford Engineers? At least short term it might reduce errors.

though it doesn’t resolve the issue that it has been marketed and sold as 80amp.

agree with previous poster. Ford will most likely take different route in near future. What is most likely a small conversion to HIS $$$ 💰, would be cheaper to provide higher quality wifi 80amp charger and offer upgrade to HIS capable charger.

Why go the “easier” route if you have an analytical one based upon an engineering review of the issue. To that point, that was not the solution mentioned in @tommolog ‘s latest video interview with Ford…it was mentioned they were going to increase the thermal cutoff limits by ~10 deg F…..

I’m skeptical, but willing to give Ford a chance to solve this problem…..

Yeah, I don't think that's going to be the permanent solution, but I WILL be following up with Ford on this topic.

TOM, for the included Mobile Charger, on 240v, do you see this unit drawing the full 30amps, or is that only 'at peak', with the majority of time drawing more like 27-28amps?

Derating the power is a Band-Aid until the solution of revising the thermal limit is proven safe, possibly bureaucrats at UL or other electrical standards & authorities have a say before a change allowing full power at 80 amps can happen.
