As the title says, what happens should I need to walk away at some point after placing my order? Apologies if this has been asked before but I could not find a clear answer to this question...

you lose your $1000 deposit if ordered and the dealer gets to make a massive profit.

Most deposits are refundable.
Make sure you get it back.

Many dealers will love if you walk away as they can then sell the truck to the highest bidder.

A) you own the order until it is delivered and you then tell your dealer that you don't want it
B) your dealer will throw you a party, invite all your friends, and sell it to one of them with a $20,000 additional profit.
C) your friend may let you ride in their new truck.

I don’t know the details of the deposit and if the detailsis say it is non-refundable or not but a respectable dealer will refund it since they will be able to resell the truck immediately.

many of the dealers seem to be forgetting to even apply the deposit to your purchase. It is held in their customer portal and with about three clicks they can refund it right away.

I’d talk the the dealer and let them know you are willing to sell back to them. Do not just walk away.

Worst case then pay you $0; But then you get the $7500 tax credit.

Any financing could work if they are going to cut you a check to pay it off same day.

Thanks for all the replies! To clarify, I am NOT walking away, just a 'what if' that's come to my mind since it's order time... life happens after all :)

Whoever owns the dealership makes $30K in ADM that will be donated to an orphanage for blind kids with leukemia.

If you walk away, you dealer would think pipe dream could be true.

I’ve pondered this. If my dealer were to offer me 10k to walk away? It’s hard to say no
Try $20k. I still said no.

Don’t abandon it. Let them have the opportunity to pay you to walk away

Only you can answer this. Your dealership sets the terms on your deposit. Read them.
