Dropped off my Lightning this morning at the local dealer for the electrical drain message I received on the app. To my surprise they could see everything going on with the Lightning. Mine displayed several errors which Service said wasn’t a big deal because it’s common. But he did see the electrical drain code. They can even see when my OTA update is coming, December 31st!

At first I was trying to figure out how to explain what came up on the app and then he pulled up the Calendar…. Lol…. I think I’ll just call service from now on to see when my OTA’s are coming 🤣

This is good though IMO, there’s no need to recreate the error. I was out in a rental for a min. of 9 days, a crusty old Passat 😞

Ford truly seems to have their dealer systems in a decent shape. That very same system can drill right down into the diagnostics and parts diagrams.

Now if the truck and app would just work and communicate half the time we'd have a better experience too.

The other good news - ANY dealer can see your VIN and errors.

I had a Blue Cruise problem in my Mach-E during a road trip. When I got back I drove straight to the dealer and walked in unannounced to the service department. The guy pulled up my car on his computer and says “you’re getting low - need to charge.” Car was under 10% charge, he was right. That’s when I realized that they can pretty much access everything. He saw a camera fault code causing the BC problem, made me an appointment a couple days out.

It would be really nice if they would do something with this information -- like ordering parts so that when you take your vehicle in for service, they have the parts on hand. I think that's how Tesla does a lot of mobile service.

Nah, Tesla Service tells you everything looks good on their end and then make you upload pictures to the app of the issue. After several hours they’ll get back to you and send you and estimate, whether you are under warranty or not. Then after about a week they schedule your mobile appointment.

Thank goodness Ford doesn’t have in cabin cameras 😬🤣
You joke but it does have one! It's used for the "distracted driver" warning (not to be confused with the BC hands free monitoring sensor). Our manuals have a privacy policy statement saying that BC may save photographs of the driver in near-collision scenarios.

(Note: I sincerely doubt technicians can pull live footage from that).

Besides fault codes, I wonder what else they upload. As stated in another thread, I can watch and see history (bytes in/out) from my network based on a particular wireless client. Yesterday alone it uploaded well over 7 MB of data. I know I had issues with my infotainment (audio very low) so maybe it was sending diagnostic data?
