Correct the clear plastic sheet, if you are careful the black adhesive comes off with it and will go right back on just like factory.

Yes I have the part number and I have a spare I might be willing to just do for you.

Definitely need the speaker hole for routing the harness. But I think you grind out the little black plastic rib from the bigger hole in the middle.

Take your time with all the electrical connectors and understand them before you put too much pressure, some are in hard places.
wow man. That would be amazing and I’d be more than happy to pay you for that! Amazing!!

In the mean time I’ll go ahead and work on all of the electrical connections and forscan tomorrow and update you.

I really appreciate your help and guidance!! Have a great evening :)

Ok, so, great news…I got everything physically installed! Everything works and is back together and I’m excited for the firmware steps.

I don’t know why (inexperience) I thought the laptop connected via USB. I now see I need to order something from Amazon. Can you confirm that all I need is this OBDlink EX from Amazon?https://www.amazon.com/stores/page/A539CE77-1BB3-4897-9C03-4F13CAC8F48B

It says it will be here tomorrow :)

Do I still need to request version 2.4 via email? I saw in the thread they were taking a long time to respond and curious if that part had changed and I could use the regular release they have.

Thanks again for everything.

Yes, you got the right one, yes, you need to request the extended license version $$.
To cut your teeth on FORScan You can use the dashboard feature and monitor the variable from the door handle to make sure it is working.

I purchased the extended license and emailed but they replied to me already and said that I don’t need 2.4 and they did not give me a link. Here’s what they said:

Did you tell them that you needed the ability to update the firmware on modules? Is that an option that you have with 2.3.55 now?

Just a second piece of advice. Please do allow yourself to get familiar with FORScan and configuration changes and using the dashboard any just poking around, checking DTC, etc. before doing "MFU (Module Firmware Update)" I think FORScan goes a little bit overboard on the warnings and liability BS, but it's understandable because some people would just jump right in and try wild things. If you're on this forum following good advice you're probably OK, but still it helps to be familiar with FORScan and start slow, it's not the most easy piece of software to understand.

That sounds like really good advice! I am planning on watching a YouTube video or two on how it works. Are there any reference documents/instruction/posts other than the one you mentioned in your first post that I should be sure and review?

YouTube videos are a great way to get comfortable. Even making a few other mods un-related to what your main goal here is. Like the anti-glare headlights or seatbelt chime changes. Basically you need to get used to saving your respective module configurations, playing around, then reverting to your saves or factory AB file. Also, you need to go grab your factory AB file and keep it safe, before you make any changes, because after you make changes your truck's modem will update the FORD cloud AB file for your VIN automatically out of your control.

Thanks for the link and the tip. I downloaded my ab file from that site with my vin and also saved a PDF of all of the lines as well just in case.

Two of the tutorials I've now seen both start with saving copies of the "As-Built" modules prior to making any changes. Does downloading this ab file mean that is no longer necessary or is that still a best-practices approach to beginning to make these mods?

Great question and the answer is having 2 is better than 1. While in a module if you load your FORD AB file, it will only pull that module's config from the file, versus loading a file you've saved is just a smaller file only for the file respectively. Something you might notice is when loading your Factory AB file you may get block size mis-match warning. NO worries on this, but what is going on is when you save your own you are getting all conifg parameters, even ones that might be affected by personalization like parameters saved that affect the GOM, or settings you've made on the dash or to seat positions, or what not. The factory AB is usually missing those, but if the factory AB doesn't contain those memory locations it won't affect them, so no worries, just good to know what's going on.

So, yes, get your FORD AB file before you do anything and save it just to have. But also save each module's config before you do anything and use those to revert if you mess up or need to troubleshoot.

Perfect Thank you. Now to get it all working on my M1 apple silicon Mac hahah. (I was going to just use a buddy's windows laptop but realized I may want to have it myself for longer-ACC has got to be up next after all!)

I bought a laptop from best buy for $90 that I dedicated to it. I'm all apple, so trying to make it work in a non-native environment scared me. I didn't want anything to increase my chances of bricking my truck.

I considered doing that, but I was able to get it running and have the OBDlink ex that was delivered updated to the latest firmware and make changes! So far so good...now I have to figure out how to do the module firmware update so I can make the changes for the passive entry.
