My understanding is always cell, regardless what Ford says about being on WiFi.
Mine have all downloaded when connected to Wi-Fi. I have no idea if it downloaded via Wi-Fi or cell.

Looks like this updates the APIM...an FDRS update for it was not there on Sunday, but when I saw the OTA update pop up on the center screen, I did a quick check and saw the new update to the APIM (along with the OBCC update that has been sitting there for a week or two).

I'll check when I get home tomorrow to see if the APIM update is removed.
So I checked today (after the OTA had updated yesterday) and the APIM is still there and the OBCC is gone. There may be another OTA getting ready to hit that will update the APIM and frustrate everyone when they can't get it to complete!

I feel pretty experienced on this forum and relatively knowledgeable about my lightning but I don’t have a grasp on these acronyms so I can’t be the only one! If you don’t mind, what does APIM and OBCC mean?

Module acronyms as per FDRS and FORscan.

Maybe we’ll get some interface updates! Hopefully they’re listening to our requests.

I just was notified about the update when I went to park at work. So I allowed it to update now vs my usual 5:30AM time when plugged in. I did received a unusual amount of inbound wifi traffic to the truck on the 30th (today), but it was only 885KB vs the MB in other updates. So it might have downloaded it over a cell connection this time.

Same here. As soon as I got home into my garage from a road trip, before I even turned off the truck it said it had a new update scheduled for the following morning. It must have connected to the WiFi right away and downloaded it as soon as it was in-range of the WiFi.

In my experience those update notices occur once you shift into Park. It could have downloaded via cellular while driving. It just doesn't bug you while driving.

Yeah I have enterprise WiFi that logs all data transfers and flows. I have never seen a software update download over WiFi. I do see some telemetry / analytics (a few dozen KB) upload and download over WiFi though.

Just got it today, but truck hadn't been driven since 8/19. Again shows that you need to drive to get the updates.
