Hi all,

I'm having some issues with the truck as of late. At first the last few days when I would drive it and turn it back on, I'd see something like 10 less miles of range after sitting for an hour. So I'd get to my destination with like 80 miles, turn it back on, and the range shows as 70ish miles. I thought it was weird but figured who knows maybe just a little issue that would work itself out. Last night, I left it on the charger to charge to 80% and I woke up today and unplugged it from the charger and its showing 80% as 140 miles of range??. I only ever charge the car to 80%, I've charged it past that at lvl 3 chargers maybe 5 times over the course of its life. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Will be taking it in to the dealer but I wanted to see if there's another way to get an idea of battery capacity from my end before I do. Thank you!

Also I live in North East USA so the temperature is like 80 degrees F outside so its not a temp related thing.

SR battery pack?
Is there a trailer profile active in the towing screen?

That's not the actual range, people around here call it the GOM, "guess-o-meter."

For an SR 144 miles at 80% equals 180 miles at 100%. This is oddly exact number...dammit! @TaxmanHog beat me to it. It's probably the a trailer profile.🤣

No trailer profile, never towed anything with the truck. It's been super accurate in the past with giving me a range of like 190-200 when at 80% and so I'm not sure why the drop all of a sudden. Nothing has changed about my driving or anything but yesterday I ended up at 10 miles on the GOM even though I should've been closer to the 50 mile range based on distance driven.

What is your efficiency and what size battery pack do you have?

Humor me...press the "home" icon, towing, select "No Active Trailer." All the clues point to this being the issue.

Just checked, it was already listed as No Active Trailer but thanks for the suggestion!

SR and I think the overall efficiency is like 2.4 or 2.5 across the 9500 miles. I don't drive fast

I wouldn't 'worry' so much about what the screen shows as 'range', since your m/kwh is the most important number to be concerned with - if you show 2.5 or so, you're spot on.
I've had many, many instances where it will CONTINUE to show 'towing' range, even though I've already detached my trailer, and have not had it connected for many miles, and several charge nights. There's no rhyme or reason why it does it, but I've learned that it will just take time for Ford to fix any and all 'bugs' with these amazing machines...

I’m in the same state as you.

Recent weather has not affected my range. I set mine to auto climate 68-72F.

On local I’ll get about 2.3-2.7.
Highway I get 1.8-2.1.
Trailer in tow I get 1.3-1.7.

At 2.4, you should be seeing about 200-210 miles of range on the GoM at 90%.

That said, unfortunately from time to time updates can have an effect on our available range. I’ve seen this happen not only on the indicator but actually adding stops to trips I did frequently. I drove myself nuts trying to figure it out before it was eventually fixed in the next update.

What version are you on? When did you notice it? Have you tried resetting the driving history?

The other thing to try is do a manual calculation. I posted in another thread that I’ve started with 100 indicated with a trailer. Drove 70 miles and the GoM still showed 70 miles remaining, but with battery percentage at 60-70% which didn’t compute.

I would try charging the truck to 100% the. Drive 20 miles and see what your percentage shows. If you still have 90%…nothing wrong with your battery. It’s just your GoM being funky.

I’m coming up on 15,000 miles on mine and haven’t had any issues with the battery.

Please note….your available range is NOT affected, only the fictitious number shown by the GOM changes.

That is NOT always true. There was one update that affected either my consumption or available range (consumption was indicated)

I do a 500 mile commute anywhere from 1x to 3x per month and I usually make it on one stop. That means I run the battery from 100% all the way down to under 4%.

On one of the updates my consumption dropped to 1.6-1.8 with nothing in tow - in typical summer weather. For the entirety of that update I went from stopping once to having to stop twice, this lasted for 3 round trips of 500 each way. Immediately after the following update (and since) I have been able to do that same trip with one stop

A lot of factors affect range, but unless an update changes available battery capacity, it’s not one of them.

I don’t have my Lightning yet (was being built today so not long now), but my wife has the Mach-e. Her driving habits are way more aggressive than mine, so her efficiency is bad. Do you have a setting where you can Reset EV Driving History like the Mach-e? You might try that and see if it “trues up” the GOM a little.
