A friend of mine from the dealership sent me the dealer bulletin detail.

Impacts 36,611 US vehicles. As of right now it looks like it includes 2022 MY build dates 10/14/21 - 10/19/22 and 2023 MY beginning 6/10/22. Seems like pretty much all of them.

Edit: removed the detail since someone already posted a pdf of it in full...

Dang, now it shows on my wife's truck as well. Called the dealer back and they may try it mobile at noon today.
OK.. So mobile service came to the house at noon. He updated both trucks for the CSP. It also included updates for 4 other modules. Nothing indicated that a battery module needed to be replaced. So appears to be good to go. Maybe this is a software update to mitigate the issue

That is awesome that your dealer is up on customer service and will come to you.

I believe the update is to prevent the truck from sending the dreaded ‘ Pull over and Stop as Soon as it is Safe to do so’ Message.

It will now reduce power to something like 20% and let you limp home or to a dealer if it detects a bad module.

MikeG over in the FDRS thread noticed 5 new updates today. Sounds like the same ones you got.

Just curious if any of you have received this. Today I logged into my Ford account and found two recalls. The first one I knew about, the rear light, but now I also had the below High voltage battery module or software recall.

Anybody else get this? My plan was to wait until the rear light parts are available and then make an appointment. Is this something serious or just a software update?

No warning in the truck or otherwise notifications.

Copied from website text below:

"High voltage battery module replacement andor battery energy control module becm software update

Called my local dealer and they have me scheduled for October 2 and already have the parts in stock.

I also got the notice. Interestingly my Lighting is in the middle of an HVB module replacement. Has been at the dealership for over a month. Not sure I trust this vehicle anymore.

So this is interesting. It first seemed to be interpreted that the SW was just an update to change the behavior of the truck if a bad battery module was detected (reduce power vs pull over and stop). But reading from the bulletin it seems this SW may truly update the BECM SW to determine over time if each battery has the problem by watching better for the voltage deviation.

This is from the bulletin "All vehicles will receive an update to the Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) software strategy that detects if the high voltage battery experiences a voltage deviation and may enter the vehicle into a reduced performance state.

Here is the question - if they know that 4% of the 36K trucks have the battery problem, also from the bulletin, why can't they identify that 4% by VIN? If they know how many, they should know what truck they put them in.

Statistical models can generate confidence bounds on trends and analysis but it can't predict the future

So my truck has never had an issue with the battery modules or experiencing the reduced power fault or anything, but on a whim I decided to punch my VIN into Ford's recall checker. My truck popped up as either needing a module replacement or software update.

What should I do? I've had my truck for over a year and never had a single major issue with it. I just really don't want to drop my truck off and find myself without it for weeks. Hearing all the horror stories here has me concerned. Especially since I haven't had a single issue with it 😕

Have any of you found your Lightnings listed for the CSP? And if your truck had zero issues, what if anything did the dealer do?

You should contact your dealer and have them schedule to fix it. 😊

Yup, many are finding this alert, even many of the new builds still sitting at the factory waiting to be shipped.

BTW, easy method for looking up your CSP's using Fordpass, click Service, then Custom Satisfaction Program tile, it will show an overview, then click it to see the details.

Oh yeah thanks for the tip, man! But I'm the "TCU disconnected, don't use FordPass" guy, so a manual lookup was the only way I discovered this!
