Entire battery???!?!?!?!?
Usually it's one or two modules within the battery pack.
I thought the same, and they may not know how to diagnose further to the module level. But, given what I've heard here, it may present less issues if they can replace the entire thing, rather than Frankenstein the modules back together in the field.

I agree that it would be more efficient to have defective packs in whole sent to the central work shop, but shipping two 1800# units for every event vs a couple hundred pounds for modules is not cost effective, so field rebuild is the more cost effective solution.

Completely agree! I was looking at it from a selfish perspective, not cost feasibility for Ford! haha

Did these similar issues happen all within 24 hours of owning truck?
Sadly yes.. Took delivery of the truck yesterday and woke up the to powertrain malfunction message and only 25% battery

Is it still cost effective when factoring the additional man hours spent doing the single module? A full battery swap can be done in a couple hours, where the module replacement takes several hours (sometime multiple days) just to balance the voltages with a single module replacement. Add in missed business due to the bottleneck of only 1 EV tech/service bay...

I didn't do a cost accounting analysis, just a whimsical opinion.

They might find a balance of efficiency with regional battery service centers, where transportation costs can be minimal, invest in a standing stock of packs ready to ship in anticipation of cores, then reman the core and turn it around to the next case.

I bought my truck from a dealer, so I am not sure what the build date is. My original window sticker Has a number at the bottom that looks like a date "03 22 22". I found a thread for previous generation F-150s that mentioned a sticker on the rear sear having a build date on it. I also have a sticker from the underside of one of my rear seats that has a 04-05-22 date on it. Not sure if that is the date the seat was built or the build date. My truck is at the dealer getting the repair now, so can't check anything else on it.
When you get it back look at the GVWR sticker inside the drivers door frame, top center section will have a date mm/yy that is the month & year it was built, the bottom center will be another date code which was the planned blend day 1[yyyymmdd]nnnn

Example, my truck was scheduled to blend in June 2022, on 6/9/2022, it actually went into production 6/17/2022

Took delivery 10/2/23 with 34 miles. Malfunction showed on 10/3/23 with 49 miles. Dropped off to dealership on 10/3/23 still waiting on diagnosis.

Just had this happen 2 days ago😭. Been sitting at the dealer since then, apparently their FDRS was down yesterday...
Had a camping trip planned this weekend, not sure what I am going to do without my truck.

build date on my truck was 12/8/22 I think, will have to confirm later.
It has 9956 miles, I received it on 1/11/23

In need of opinions...

I experienced this fault 6+ weeks ago and took it to the dealer immediately, fortunately I had 25% power and was able to drive it there. Long story short, two battery modules were identified as problematic and were ordered and replaced, BECM was then deemed faulty after that, ordered and replaced, and now another battery module has been identified as faulty and it has been ordered.

I'm thinking of going the Lemon Law route. The vehicle is a '23 XLT built in December of '22 with 11k miles on it, which (I think) would deduct approximately $5k from the $60k I paid for it. Due to the intervening price changes I think I could get a replacement '23 XLT for essentially the money that I would get back from my current vehicle. Aside from the hassle, why shouldn't I go this route and end up with a "new" '23 XLT with 0 miles and a full warranty ahead of me? There's also the possibility of waiting for the '24s but I don't know when and at what cost I could get one. Thoughts? Really liked the truck, I can almost remember what it looked like...

I'm looking to go the lemon route as well. Dealer has to replace the battery (not just a module) and has no idea when it will arrive. If you want a 23, you should be able to replace it without paying for usage. If you were taking cash and walking, you'd pay usage. Although, these usage rules vary by state. Personally, I'm hoping to order a 24 but depends on how long I can deal with my loaner. Coming from a 22, I don't want to lose my scales and heated wheel.

Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.
