I’m envious of the 50Amp receptacle in the bed and the air suspension. But that’s it.

Our Lightning’s 30Amp outlet is fantastic but just not enough juice to run our mini-split system.

The suspension I’ll upgrade later when suspension companies catchup.

yes. I think that’s the point. Many people were holding out because the expectation was considerable amount of range over the lightning / faster and cost less. ford was investing billions and racing to build batteries with Chinese companies for the fear Tesla cracked the code on range and price with the CT

was it a brilliant Trojan horse by Elon to make these OEM waist billions in development while they tighten and improve efficiencies the past two years ? Maybe so. Interesting Ford /GM all the sudden cut way back on EV spending a few weeks before Tesla came out last week with their CT configurations.

If the CT was anything remotely close to what musk was pedaling when I put in a reservation - I would switch - now it’s not worth it and as a lightning owner you now really appreciate what Ford has done and feel as an owner - the lightning is an incredibly good product.
I doubt many of the folks here who were critical of tesla and its lack of build qualities were holding out for a CT hoping it would have better range. That was my point.

I’m struggling here. What does a CT do that a Ramrev, Silverado EV, or a lightning don’t or won’t? It’s certainly not a full-size passenger compartment and the bed sides being angled make any number of “truck 1.0” accessories incompatible. The front trunk is oddly shaped and small and you seemingly have to load and unload from the back of the bed, over the tailgate or even farther from the bed behind the tailgate. There aren’t any running boards to help reach over the sides…this feels like a step backwards in terms of usability, not a step forward. Why anybody would buy this over a Tacoma or Colorado or Ranger really confuses me, but then again I think TikTok is dumb and onlyfans is a concert ticket site.
Problem here is that you assume the CT was made to do exactly what the big three trucks can do.
Nowhere did tesla state that you can load from the bed side. Like any and other products, if it doesn't meet your requirements then its not for you.

I thought it was aimed at taking on the big three with the goal of replacing them in the market place. Seems silly to put form over function. A truck 2.0 should be a better truck than a truck 1.0. That said I’m excited to see one in the wild.

I fully expected Tesla to deliver at least 400 with this. The build quality was going to be a crap shoot.

400 mile range is an arbitrary number. The truck and it's lowest trim. Level goes further than the lightning, but you're still not "really"buying it.

It would be silly if they're goal was to be a better work truck, but it wasn't. I just don't understand why people don't get it. The CT was designed to be different than the others. That's why they put gullwing doors on the model X. That's why they put minimalistic interiors with a huge screen in their cars.
Also it's just plain aerodynamically better than a regular looking truck. And we all know air resistance is one of the biggest killer of range.

Does it have better utility than a truck as Tesla says?

The goal post have been moved, for 4 years Tesla Fan Boys have been yapping about how this would take over the truck world and put ICE out of business but now that it’s a Dud, we don’t get it.

It’s so aerodynamically better it gets the same range as an F-150 that is pretty much a Brick.

The minimalistic interior is to keep their cost down while charging you more. Ask yourself, why doesn’t Teslas most expensive model the Cyberbeast not have an instrument cluster but the previous most expensive model S/X do? No stalks is better for Truck drivers? Smh

If you want to know what a Lightning is REALLY like, go to the folks that actually drive them.
If you want to know what a Cybetruck is REALLY like, I think you would need to do the same.

Fans without personal experience have every right to their opinions, of course. 😉

I am absolutely enamored with the Lightning. Was from the moment Ford spoke publicly about it. But I missed my teeny tiny non existent opportunity for the $40K...... (everyone knows that story)

So all I can do is harvest the information shared by those that actually live with the Lightning every day. And it's right here for the world to see.

I am looking forward to the same a year or more from now. (it'll be more, of course, since similar to the Lightning, they aren't exactly going to pour out of the assembly line immediately)

Until then, at least more than just hype will begin to surface.

We are living in amazing times. My 92 year old dad is witnessing what appears to be Science Fiction coming to life before his eyes. He insisted that I help him get up into my Powerboost and give him a ride. He did the same with my meak little Nissan Leaf.
To him there wasn't the vast separation of respect or disdain between the two. Lol

I can't get over the design of the truck. It's so excessively outlandish. You know if you drive it you'll be attracting attention good or bad. I don't want every drive or trip to the store turn heads and have people looking. I enjoy that I can go places normally in the Lightning.

While there seems to be some useful improvements that woukd be good to see down the road (48V, drive by wire) I think the Cyber truck's design is just too impractical. Weird bed, weird front end, all parts will be a pain to source if damaged. It simply ain't for me and I don't think it's going to sell that well. Maybe Tesla will be able to take the technologies in it and apply them to a future, truly practical design.

There really is nothing more to these arguments than Ford guys vs Chevy guys have been doing for the last 100 years. What we are seeing is traditional manufacturers have pretty much met parity with Tesla. If CT gains a foothold in the market it will be one more player on the field just like Ford, GM, and Ram. If it doesn't it will be a Nissan Titan. No one is head and shoulders above the rest and it was an unrealistic expectation from the beginning. Every year new models will come out that are slightly better than the old ones. This expectation of massive breakthroughs coming all at once really aren't realistic. When ever something somewhat revolutionary rolls around it will be priced in a way that makes it accessible to the top bracket of buyers until it is scaled and then it will roll out slowly. It won't make your EV worthless just like the EcoBoost didn't make the 5.4 Triton worthless even with all its flaws. It is all how the automotive industry has gone as long as I can remember including the fanboys and the haters.

This is puzzling. Tesla had a clean slate and they came up with a 0.39 coefficient of drag. It's pretty underwhelming compared to Lightning's 0.44 and pathetic against the 0.30 Rivian.

Presumably, Ford's T3 will be an efficiency improvement. It will probably look weird but if it's going to look weird it might as well be efficient.

Jim Farley must be popping champagne right now. Tesla probably had the best shot at one upping the Lightning and came up way short on the range and price.
And looks, don't forget the looks.

Physics is physics. GM and RAM would not meet their range target as well.

I like CT that it has 6 feet bed and overall length is 8 inches less. But for sure it has much less shoulder room and legroom.

Now the wait for 2nd gen Lightning has started.
The back seat also looks quite tight. Maybe that's how the did the magic of more bed space, yet shorter overall.

Which is odd to me. When you see it in person, the Front Dash looks like it's half the interior cabin space, there is a large amount of room there. Im not sure what Tesla was thinking.
