Switch to silence backup beep

Cars aren't required to have beepers, but are required to emit sound while the vehicle is in reverse (stationary or moving) at a louder sound than required when moving forward. The current method seems like the easiest way to accomplish this. You wouldn't be able to legally disable it since the system that generates sound when moving forward wouldn't be active just sitting still in reverse with your foot on the brake.

Overall I don't find the reverse sound in the Lightning to be too bad. The sound in Hyundai/Kia is significantly louder and borderline obnoxious.

We have a Niro EV and we call it the Box Truck. It's insane how loud it is. People halfway across the grocery store parking lot will gopher up from putting their groceries in the trunk to figure out what it is and where it's coming from.

Taking deliver of my Lightning this week and thankful that it's not nearly as loud or jarring.

The low speed noise is federally mandated now. However the reverse beep is just Ford being extra. Unfortunately we can’t separate the two. And Ford is using the same noisemakers on all BEV/PHEV of theirs so the Mach-e and F150 PowerBoost and others now all have the same beeps.

The low speed tone and reverse beep don’t really bother me. But the frunk beep is ridiculous and I can’t fathom any reason why someone thought it was a good idea. I pulled its little noisemaker out with extreme prejudice. The tailgate emits the same beep but only if operated from in the cab or from the fob. That’s acceptable I guess.

While I can clearly hear the reverse beeping, I have never heard the low-speed sound. I have not made any mods to the speaker, but I didn't get a PDI.

I've recently found another shop to buy from the speaker bypass with a remote control to get rid of the reverse beeping noise and still have the option to turn it on when appropriate for me.
Works great!

I would suggest that you look at Kim Java’s YouTube video entitled “Inside the Tesla Cybertruck with Sandy Munro.” Fast forward to 9:21 and you will see her almost get bonked in the head when someone closes the frunk from the inside. That’s the value of the annoying beeper on the F150 Lightning frunk.

Is that reverse speaker accessible by only removing that cover? With the frunk beeper, it was only accessible by removing the frunk bed liner.

just to access the reverse speaker/pedestrian sounder, there's no need to remove the cover or frunk liner. It's accessible just by reaching under the front bumber's left corner

I was thinking of just covering the speaker sound outlet with plastic duct tape or electrical tape. I just want to quiet it down a bit. I back into my driveway every night at 12:45 am and I'm sure the neighbors can hear me.

Except it also beeps when it opens. And beeps several times very long and very loudly. I don't think so many people would object to a frunk warning beep or two if it wasn't so unnecessarily obnoxious.
