just another reason I am soooo glad I got my 2023 instead of waiting for a 2024. FMC cut out a lot of things to keep the pricing low and many were not so obvious.
We have zero information as to why this is stated, but given it's only stating EA, it's not a hardware change on the truck.

I hit 195kw yesterday at the EA station in Indiana....right before the truck was like "nope" and shut it down.

Longest sustainable rate I have ever had was 182-185kw at the new EA stations at Meijer's in Kankakee IL and Sams Club in Rockford IL.

Typically, I am low 170s like other on here. I have a 2022 ER.

Given the low pack voltage of our trucks, that seems to indicate drawing well over 500 amps. Likely cause of the shut down (and indicates a malfunction somewhere, likely in that charger).

Chargepoint is installing Mercedes Benz branded chargers at Bucees. These are rated at 400KW. Theoretically, will the ER trucks see peaks of 210KW before being thermally throttled?

No, because the truck will communicate the max charge it can handle.

I think it’s a great idea for you to go on parking at the old 150s, and leave the 350s for me and others who are in a hurry.
Can you get that message to the dumbass with the ID4 that was charging at the EA in Independence, MO yesterday. He charged at a 350 and it stopped at 80%. It then sat there for 40 minutes until an entire family pulled up in an older Maxima. The only other working charger was a 150. I moved to the 350 after he left and then got decent speeds.

I blame that situation partly on VW’s “3 Years of Free Charging” at EA, and the rest on an obvious lack of courtesy and consideration for others. I’ve found that most EV drivers aren’t that rude.

I agree. The other functioning 350 charger was occupied by a Bolt Lyft driver. These people probably have no clue that a 350 does nothing for them over a 150.

This should come with caveats. Session limited to 20 mins. $5/min idle fees. Only at 150KW chargers :ROFLMAO:

Apparently, the new Mercedes chargers are limited to 500A, so it will be just like charging at an EA 350kW (500A output). Our trucks throttle down the current as the pack charges up, but maximum charge rates on Lightnings depend on only one thing: the current output from the charger. 400kW would be possible only with 800V battery architecture, if current is limited to 500A (would never happen on a mid-300V Lightning). Power ratings on chargers are pretty much irrelevant for charging Lightnings; it’s all about the current (amps), with 500A being the highest presently available (EA 350s, Mercedes 400s, and Superchargers- though it remains to be seen whether non-Teslas will be allowed to receive that much current).

Many Lyft / Uber drivers simply don't care. And yes, most Bolt drivers have no clue, I've spoken to quite a few.

Hey I had no idea there was a difference until I read these forums. If I weren't a forum-reading kind of person I would just pull up and charge at an open bay without a second thought. EVs unfortunately don't come with a DCFC instruction manual, and the only etiquette hint is the idle fee.

I've had my truck less than a month but already learned the hard way about broken EA stations and Bolts camping at a charger. :ROFLMAO:

I’ll bet you were pulling 500A when you saw 157kW. Only on a 350!
