2023 Ford F-150 Lightning Lariat Extended Range
Very tempting. I actually went to the dealer today thinking I could save a bunch of money buying a 2023 XLT ER and giving up my 2024 Flash order. But after careful consideration, I decided to stick with the Flash. The difference in price, for me based on the deal I got for my order, was worth the extra for the heat pump, getting the color I wanted, B&O sound, larger screen, etc.
We also thought about a MME to replace our Tesla MYP. But after driving the MME, we decided to keep the Tesla. After selling or trading it in, the price difference would have been close to $20k. The MME just wasn’t worth anywhere near that much to us.
Just get a Lariat 23. The only plus for 24 is the heat pump. The fast charging on extended range drops to 120kw max for all 2024 models and is 150kw for extended ranges on 2023. Also get 3 years of free blue cruise with 2023 vs 90 days. Also get a few charge station pro. Also Lariat has a sun roof and flash doesn't. Also you will be posting a significant premium on the flash by ordering it. If you wait until this time next year likely will be able to get a good deal on one vs just buying a Lariat ER right now

Pay attention to the financing rates. My dealer told me that taking a promotional rebate means no promotional low financing rate. Pick one or the other. This stuff changes all the time. And people lie. So ask lots of questions about EVERYTHING before biting.

I too recommend a '23 over a '24 all things considered. 80 amp charging, included FCSP charger, included 9.6kw pro power if in the trim level, 3 years of Blue Cruise if in your trim level. And still less expensive than an identical '24 with their new "Pay more, get less" tactic.
The retail cash for the lariats are only if you finance with them at their promotional rates. You don't get the retail cash if you buy with cash or use someone else for financing

I don't know what those rates are, but double check the fine print. It is almost always advantageous to take the promotional cash, finance even if it is higher with Ford and then refinance with a local CU in 30 days.

There is a cut of period for Blue Cruise on the 2023 models. Earlier builds had three years and later builds just 90 days. Not sure what the cutoff dates is.

CORRECTION: My dealer was wrong. All 2023 Lariat ER's get 3yrs of Blue Cruise.

I don’t want a sun roof. I don’t need the charge station. I mostly charge at home (solar panels = free charging!) And not interested in Blue Cruise. The discount on the XLT ER is better than the Lariat.

Mine has 3 years listed on the window sticker and was built 12/07/23 so I think it's just a 2023 vs 2024 thing

I got 3.9% for 60 months and an extra 7500 off plus dealer discount today

You are correct. I was just regurgitating what my salesman told me when I saw him yesterday. I just checked all of their window stickers for their 7 Lariat ERs and they all said three years. All of them have onboard scales and the security pack deleted. Their latest build is September.

Do you have a source for this claim? It would be pretty crazy for the DCFC curve to change for the 2024 models unless the battery is changing. I know there's been talk of an LFP pack being offered for the standard range which could possibly charge slower but I don't think LFP pack will be in the extended range models.

Ford FAQ
Click this links and go to the question about charging at 350kw chargers. It says 120 max for 2024 and upto 150 for for 2023. Since we know that extended range is 150 for 2023 and standard is 120 in 2023 that statement makes sense. seems they cut the speed of charging as a cost cutting move. Not sure if the reduction in dual on board charges affects this or if it only affects level 2 charging but overall concerning.

Thanks for the link, that is what it says! Unless the battery packs are changing for 2024, I have a hard time believing that will be accurate.

Were all anxiously waiting for someone with a 2024 to prove if this is bullshit or not.

120kw for standard? Did they change something between 2022 and 2023? My SR 2022 will hit max ~170kw for a bit.

It could be conservative nanny software altering the charging curve in an attempt to limit warranty claims. Toyota did something similar with BusyForx. Maybe they reduced the buffer in the HVB?
