Well, the link for the adapter ford.com/FastChargingAdapter doesn’t work yet 🤣🤣🤣
I'm guessing this site had several million hits today if you all did what I did.

Naaa, I highly doubt they will try to restrict CCS access to SCs based on VIN. This will promote middle man hacking and adapter MAC/VIN spoofing immediately.
Given how the Plug&Charge protocol works (the VIN is embedded in an X.509 certificate) unless they did something really dumb and hacky, spoofing the VIN is not possible, and restricting access to Ford vehicles should be super easy: all and only Ford vehicles will have certificates signed by Ford's CA.

Autocharge+ is a different matter - there is no cryptographic validation of the MAC address. But VIN spoofing should not be a thing.

We'll see, and if the Off Board Charge Controller can't get the certs via OTA how you think Ford will handle people bringing their vehicles in and demanding firmware updates.

Im willing to bet half of the 2023s have been in the shop for one.

Also, they all have a VIN with the 2nd letter is F for Ford.

Ford F-150 Lightning NACS adapter is now on Ford parts website (but can't be ordered yet) 1000235176

I'd rather push the truck home...or more likely I may have to if I take my wife there...lol

But seriously though those look like a great setup in terms of location of the unit and being able to pull right in for use on the driver's side and packing your items up in the bed.

I just took a random tour of the parts.ford.com and this is what I looked like after seeing those prices.

Next time someone gives me the bird on the road, I will just smile. I can’t afford to piss anyone off. If they start breaking my lights, I may have to get a second mortgage.

I think some of you are missing the 2nd point of the plug and charge network. It's so ford can skim off a couple cents of every kw. Think about it... they are bringing people to your chargers and then buying the power at a lower wholesale rate then selling it back to you at retail. This is super smart on Ford's part. I'm sure the Tesla deal is very similar. Ford handles all the billing and Tesla gives them a litte of the transaction in return. Yes having the "Tesla" standard is nice but it's really no different than how the VHS vs Beta or HDDVD vs BlueRay wars were won. On the blueray side Sony finely won and got their cut. The adapter is not free it's an investment from Ford/Tesla for you to use their chargers.

for sure, people always forget that instead of trying to compete for selling cars, it’s much better to own the majority of the gas stations. The real value for Tesla is that now they’re going to have so many people using their “gas stations.“. Except these gas stations, don’t require attendance, a massive investment, or fuel trucks to come out. It is a no lose business as they simply mark up the electricity rates for their desired profits after cutting in every other partner.

I wouldn’t disagree with most of that but you are wrong about it not being a massive investment. It truly is and one that Fird still won’t get into. They even put it on their own dealers to have chargers installed. Tesla’s charging network is almost solely the reason EV’s will be successful.
