I was driving yesterday, and when I switched on the left turn signal, the indicator on the dash started to rapidly flash. Typically (old school) this meant I had a burned out bulb. So I went and checked the front and rear signals, and sure enough the driver’s side rear signal wasn’t working. Upon closer inspection, it appears there’s a lot of condensation inside that light fixture too. I continued driving, and about a half hour later the signal started working again.
I purchased the truck just two weeks ago (‘23 XLT ER). I always park it in our garage. I’ve called the dealer and made an appointment for Wednesday to get it fixed.

Bummer. This is a first I’ve heard of a taillight failure due to moisture. The rear lightbar on the other hand. I personally had it replaced 3 times before a recall ultimately came out.

I've got a similar issue with left turn as well, but I think mine is the front left. Dealer can't figure it out, next steps they said they would have to go through the wiring harness. I don't have much confidence in that. Mine usually happens on warm / hot days so I doubt it's moisture.

Double-check you don't have a small crack. My passenger side had one, not sure what I hit or when (or if it was me). Bought a replacement off eBay.

I've been meaning to survey all the lights in my truck and start a post about water in them. I'm aware of both interior frunk lights and at least one running board light with water. I'm guessing there are more. Maybe tomorrow...

It was a warm day (75f). The condensation is plainly visible. I checked for cracks…none. But I wouldn’t expect any with only 500 miles on the truck.
I’m hoping they’ll just replace the unit with a new one. And hoping more so they won’t have to order the part and wait weeks to get it.

Same thing happened to me (passenger side rear). Failure was intermittent and mostly went away as the dealer had a decent lead time on ordering parts. My guess is that condensation was causing a short and when it dried out it was OK for a while. They did replace it under warranty.

Same with my driver rear tail light, noticeable condensation inside. No cracks. The truck was just bought last month.

I'm curious to know how the water got in, if they find a crack somewhere that they won't blame on you.

Hi there, Ray! Could you privately message us with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer so I can look into this rear light concern? Thank you!

I have an appointment with dealer tomorrow. I’d rather let them have an opportunity to fix it before involving you folks, unless there’s a reason you believe I might need your help. But I appreciate the offer!

I dropped the truck off at the dealership. They have a replacement light assembly in stock, so it should be fixed later today under warranty.

That's an odd, and expensive, part to have in stock. Glad it worked out for you.
