FSD is dangerous and should be illegal. It may get you "door-to-door" but I wouldn't trust it to drive to the end of my driveway.
Yeah, well wait to you get a load of Blew-Cruise disengaging at 75MPH on a highway curve for no reason. However dangerous you think FSD Beta is, Ford's solution is 10x more dangerous on the 1% of roads it works on.

You sold a car that will drive you door to door on city streets and navigate interchanges for one that only does divided mapped highways in straight lines and does not stop for stop signs or lights because robotaxi is late?
There is no Tesla that will drive you door-to-door on city streets. I have used FSD in my wife’s Model Y. It’s a fun gimmick. It’s not ready for primetime.

What’s new in the BC 1.3 update?
BlueCruise 1.0 – Builds on available Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Centering to add hands-free driving capabilities on prequalified sections of divided highways called hands-free Blue Zones.

BlueCruise 1.2 – Adds new features including In-Lane Repositioning (which can give you more space by subtly shifting away from vehicles in adjacent lanes) and Lane Change Assist (tapping your turn signal to initiate a hands-free lane change).

BlueCruise 1.3 – Helps you stay engaged longer in hands-free mode by improving performance, with greater ability to navigate narrow lanes and curves.

BlueCruise 1.4 – Delivers great in-land stability, while automatically and smoothly adjusting the vehicle’s speed in even more curves, allowing for more hands-free time and a more continuous drive.

If @Ford Motor Company delays 6 more months past the end of this year, my "free" 3 years of BlueCruise will have expired. But ... that was likely the plan all along.
I thought about this and I think you are close with your hypothesis. Ford probably does need a bunch of people to pick up subscriptions at $800 a year to fund further development of the bluecruise platform. That said, I am confused as to why they won't push the Lightning OTA especially since people have been running it on their mongoose.

I do it every day. Back out of the driveway, turn FSD on and it drives me 4 miles to my work thorough inner city neighborhoods, stop signs, stop lights, left/right turns… the entire way to my work parking lot. I literally touch nothing. It goes around trash cans, waits for cross traffic if cars are double parked, goes through if it’s clear to do so, slows down for speed bumps. It can still make mistakes and you have to watch out for it (one way during school hrs temp signs) but I’m sure that stuff is coming. It’s currently around 50% one take over and 50% no takeovers. Last year it could barely make it a few block before it took a speed bump at 25mph or changed lanes and cut someone off.

Thanks Wow ok I guess I’m still on 1.1 then and not even 1.2 yet, let alone 1.3.

So, 1.2 ,1.3,1.4 are all marketing speak and fuzzy subjective language. ( 1.4: I hope it delivers in-land stability and won't drive me into the ocean)

The problem is not the software, but the deployment of the software that has been problematic. Issues range from missing config that prevents the features from working to more serious issues like vehicles being completely bricked.

BC 1.4 was first pushed out to Mach E's in early access last December. It was quickly pulled after a few cars got bricked. Now it is being re-released with newer software and being called BC 1.3. The roll-out of 1.3 has been anything but smooth.

Mine says “ FORD CO-PILOT360 ACTIVE 2.0”. No mention of Blue Cruise or any time limit on the Monroney sticker.
On The FordPass app click on the account icon on the top right corner of screen. Choose "Connected Services" under the "Other Services" tab. I don't think my Monroney says anything about BlueCruise. I have an early build '22. I got screwed out of a year of connected services including BlueCruise by buying my Mannequin in July of 2022. Complained to my dealer and they said they would pay for an extra year of my connected services if they couldn't get Ford to extend them. After about six months of harassing Ford they got all the connected services extended to match my warranty end date. It's amazing what a dealer can get accomplished when they are on the hook.

Got tired of the broken promises and turned it on myself in my Job 1 2022 .. the worst part is that it keeps the blinker on after the lane change, which makes its feel like a parlor trick because if I have to touch the stalk twice, I might as well just turn the wheel myself too.
Lane change assist works by just tapping the turn signal stalk. Are you saying it doesn't work unless you fully engage the turn signal?

This may be fertile ground for a class-action lawsuit. @Ford Motor Company advertised 3 years of "free" BlueCruise to market and sell the Lightning to us. For all practical purposes, Ford has failed to deliver. I have tried BlueCruise many times on prequalified sections of divided highways. I gave up out of concern a State Trooper would cite me for bouncing off the lane lines. I call it CruiseBlues.

Equitable action by @Ford Motor Company would be to provide 3 years of free BlueCruise, beginning when Ford successfully installs a safe, functional system in our vehicles.

The 2023 Monroney sticker did show Blue Cruise for 3 years.

I'm one of the 2022 Lariat 511A's that it did not show, but I do have it.

The Functional section lists parts of the Blue Cruise system, but no mention of the time limited trial.

I actually notice a HUGE difference between the BC 1.3 Mach-E and BC 1.0 Lightning on my commute, which is 125 miles and stretches across the country, bay bridge, and DC beltway. The Mach-e is way more "aware", changes lanes and adopts better to the vehicles around it. Both turn blue at the same time though so I don't think their base maps are any different. The first 1/4 of my drive is not blue available. During this part of the drive, the Lightning is constantly yelling at my to pay attention and stay on the road. The Mach-E seems to enjoy the chaos more and doesn't bother me :)
