Bluecruise Update: Ford OTA team promises 1.3 for all Lightnings by end of the year

If @Ford Motor Company delays 6 more months past the end of this year, my "free" 3 years of BlueCruise will have expired. But ... that was likely the plan all along.

My wife's Mach-e will hit it's 3 year mark on 12/31 of this year,.

that actually raises a good point - many early Mach-e's will be over there 3 year window already. I will have to go check out that forum at some point to see how that is going.

From someone who has three variations of self-driving.

-- 23 Lightning Lariat: not bad, when it works. Too limited on which roads it work on. Can't signal and perform a lane change without overriding and re-engaging.

-- 21 Model Y ( no FSD.: Not bad, Don't like that it by default turns auto highbeams ON and you can't lane change without overriding and re-engaging. Nagging to touch the wheel sucks

-- 20 RAV4 w/ Comma 3X (FrogPilot fork): For what it is, Excellent. Can drive miles and miles without ever touching the wheel. Does lane changes automatically when you signal a lane change. When you are driving with a destination, it will take exits, stop at signs, take turns "pretty well".

I still need to obtain the Ford Harness so I can try the Comma 3X on the Lightning

I spoke to the OTA team at Ford on 8/24 and they let me know that the plan is to have all Lightnings updated to 1.3 bluecruise by the end of the year. Lots of promises!

A few Lightning owners recently reported a new APIM update showing for them in FDRS that was the same one the Mach E's got before 1.3 started being sent to them. I believe it will happen before the end of the year for that reason and not for anything else mentioned on this thread. I don't trust a word the people who answer the 1800 number at Ford say.

Given the struggles we’ve seen with Fords ability to do OTA powertrain updates (see the hundreds of pages of FDRS threads) I don’t have much confidence that they’ll be able to push any meaningful BlueCruise updates during the remaining useful life of my truck. Both Tesla and Ford are years behind their promises but at least Tesla has figured out how to transmit/install things smoothly. It’s still a great truck even if you accept it for what it was the day it rolled off the assembly line.

Got tired of the broken promises and turned it on myself in my Job 1 2022 .. the worst part is that it keeps the blinker on after the lane change, which makes its feel like a parlor trick because if I have to touch the stalk twice, I might as well just turn the wheel myself too.

End of June 2025 is when it will roll out.

August 4th 2025 to be exact for my truck ..... not buying it if they won't let me test drive it for another 90 days if made available AFTER 1.0 has expired.

Not something to worry about now but my window sticker on my 22 Platinum makes zero reference to BlueCruise being time limited. Later window stickers did. Will be interesting to see what Ford does abut owners who, based on their window sticker, weren't clearly specified as having the feature for a specific time period.

Mine says “ FORD CO-PILOT360 ACTIVE 2.0”. No mention of Blue Cruise or any time limit on the Monroney sticker.
