So I just self installed the HIS myself and have it working. I believe your truck needs to be at the 6.14 update though (which is when mine started to work). My system is not registered with Ford but I am now getting consistent transfer to the backup panel. The delta equipment works great. As everyone pointed out itā€™s the Bluetooth that is tricky.
i think the old versions of the truck updates did not work as well. I also believe that a lot of people have modem issues but donā€™t realize it. I think the truck modem, not the FCSP is the main problem.

Hereā€™s another YouTuber who has made a number of videos on it. I think sheā€™s on this forum from time to time as well. If you go to the 5 minute point in this video sheā€™s describing her own latest woes with the system and how it relies on Bluetooth communication to function.

Iā€™ve had nothing but a nightmare getting the home integration system (HIS) setup and to actually work. Ford has been useless, Sunrun useless, and Delta canā€™t do anything and they all point fingers at each other.

The last straw for me was when Ford closed the ticket stating someone will contact me at an unknown time by an unknown person via an unknown methodā€¦.they canā€™t help as itā€™s a known issue.

I have read on here that Iā€™m not the only one experiencing this ā€˜known issueā€™, therefore Iā€™m invested in getting at least 39 others who have purchased the HIS and cannot get it to work as advertised to join my class action lawsuit.

Please let me know if you are interested, have comments, or know someone that might be.

is there an update on the proposed class action suit againsT Ford for the failing reverse power feature?

The reason I want to go to the HISis that I can get twice as much power out of the truck at any given moment 19.2 kW with the HIS versus the 9.6 kW from the PPO. I am net zero on consumption, just need a storage solution. Thoughts?
Iā€™m pretty sure the standard inverter in the HIS is about 10KW, if my memory serves. You might be confusing that with the 19.2 KW charging capability.

Yes this is another complaint I have, the MID/ transfer switch I have installed has a name plate rating of only 7300 to 7700w I can't remember it exactly. Sunrun never asked if I was ok with or notified me of their plans to insall this lower rated equipment. Maybe this is typical. Others on here would have to compare their specs.

The fix for the Home Integration System might be just around the corner. Ford recently invited me to participate in a special round of backup power testing. I was told I qualified because my installation had been elevated in concern (perhaps by appeals I made to Sunrun around 12/23). Ford also told me my system had now been rendered "fully functional."

In a limited series of tests on 10/2/24, I got backup power transfer in 9 out of 9 simulated grid outages. However, in 5 of those 9 tests, transfer only worked after I pushed the truck port UNLOCK button (to the right of the charger head), unplugged the charger, waited at least 15 secs, then replugged the charger head. So clearly, the system is not yet fully functional, and I only engaged in a limited series of tests on a single day. But I'm impressed. The UNLOCK workaround does not require a cold reboot of the HIS system (which requires grid power). But it won't work if you leave the truck at home to back up your house and are away somewhere else. Hopefully, Ford can devise a way through software to trigger a virtual UNLOCK button reset at the start of any grid outage. The web app energy.ford.com needs to be made at least as functional as the IBP app on the truck SYNC screen (it's partially functional for me now).

Another thought on any class action lawsuit is what does the fine print in any purchase/installation agreement say? IIRC, my Sunrun contract says that I agree to have any disputes settled out of court by binding arbitration.

Very telling relative to this, the NY Times just had an article on how an appeals court threw out a lawsuit against Uber by a couple severely injured in an accident caused by an Uber driver. The wife had installed the Uber app in 2015, and over ~seven years, during a number of updates, had agreed to Terms of Service that stipulated binding arbitration as the recourse for any problems with Uber. The kicker is that one month before the accident, the wife claims she handed her phone to her 12-year-old daughter to order pizza through Uber Eats, and she claims it was the daughter, not herself, that clicked the most recent Terms of Service agreement that stipulated binding arbitration as the only user recourse. A New Jersey appeals court recently ruled that the Terms of Service agreement holds and the couple cannot sue Uber.

Ahhh... but another court just upheld that a large number of complaints are allowed to be filed at once for binding arbitration... Valve (Steam) was so overwhelmed with large numbers of binding arbitration cases that cost them estimated millions, that they recently sent out new terms and conditions in the US getting rid of binding arbitration and going back to trial by jury... šŸ˜€

Looks like output is 34 amps at 400 volts DC which is 13.6 kW, minus inverter loss, but not sure. Input is definitely 80 amps max at 240 volts AC or 19.2 kW max charge rate. Are there different inverters available?

Nominal DC voltage is 380-ish so it will be less than that.

Not sure. Someone posted that the equipment manufacturer (AeeExpress) went under.

The nominal output from the truck is 9.6 kW. That's what shows up as the maximum potential power transfer rate in the Intelligent Backup Power app on the SYNC screen during an actual power transfer. The thing that gets mixed up is that the HIS units are sold with inverters of 4, 6, 8, or 10 kW. But that's the transfer capacity for any attached solar panels. Home backup can be powered by either the truck, solar panels, or wall batteries - but you can't use solar to charge your truck through the HIS unit.

Just got the 6.14 update, and recently got a new CSP (which I've got updated today with the latest software). Can't wait to do a simulated test ;)

I can confirm that you can run the HIS AND pro Power onboard (at least, I've done that in the past)

Thatā€™s good news, 9.6 KW from Pro Power Onboard (PPO) and another 10 kW or so from an installed HIS is very workable. Looking to doing Energy Arbitrage, storing my excess solar during the day and using the truck to run my home at night, Nearly doing it with just the PPO now. Does it show on Ford Literature anywhere that is a usable feature?

Actually it does work that the truck will charge through the DC connection if there is excess solar in off grid mode. Someone here has already confirmed it (in one of my previous posts) and I am going to verify in the next couple of weeks.

I find this highly unlikely. There is NOTHING onboard any of the HIS components the regulate HVDC charging. There is no level 3 charging communication between the truck and FCSP. There is no way this is possible.

What MIGHT be possible is level 2 AC charging through the FCSP while also being connected in backup power mode. Idk if it has been demonstrated. But it's practical and possible if your have enough solar generating enough AC power through the inverter to supply the home load and the full load of the FCSP level 2 charger.

What is definitely possible and demonstrated is level 2 AC charging while use the Pro Power. There's numerous ways to connect pro power AC to an inverter, along with solar. With enough solar to carry the home load and AC level 2 charger,you can charge at the same time as pro power is connected and net positive charge the battery.

Update: Iā€™ve just tried our first HIS simulated power cut since we got the 6.14 update to our truck, a new FCSP with 2.112.91:2.149:1.32:1.53:0.62 software, and the newest inverter software (revision 1. if memory serves?)

Currently pulling between 4 kW and 8.9 kW with no power variations. Clearly the new inverter update has helped a bunch!

So farā€¦ good?
