2024 Lariat - Heat Not Working Well

I’ve noticed that my 24 Flash doesn’t like to use the dash vents for heat when on Auto climate. It seems to prioritize floor heat and windshield defrost.

I think this logic contributes to the feeling that the heat isn’t working well because you don’t literally feel it as easily. Switching to manual I can feel the heat so I know it’s working at least.
Think this is a bug, the video I show it takes almost 20 minutes while sitting to get to a set point. Even while parked, and running on max for last 5 or so mins. What ford is trying to do, and what they are accomplishing appears to be two different things. @Ford Motor Company can you review the video, and this thread and see if there is something that can be done here?

I have a 22 Lariat ER. I had the dealer look at it..said they recharged the AC...road tested...OK. Not OK. Last year it was HoTTT. Now it takes about 5-10 minutes to start blowing lukewarm. In 30 minutes it is comfortable. It is going back to the dealer after Thanksgiving!

Never thought I would value it so, but the heated steering wheel is a big contributor to comfort in cold weather. I find the combination of that, plus the cabin heat set to the lowest level, plus the heated seats, fend off the chill of our New England winters pretty well. That said, in recent years they haven't been up to their frigid standards of yore.

I think it's intentional not blowing hot air in your face. Hot air rises which is why it's probably coming out at your feet in auto also. Not saying it's the best approach, but it seems like they did it that way on purpose. Pretty easy to just hit the Climate button and change it to front vents if that's what you want. I'm pretty sure when you run the climate from Ford Pass on a cold day/morning, it's coming out off all the vents, until you start the truck. If I run mine for 5 minutes before I get in the truck, it's usually pretty comfortable.

I’d bet you have a stuck coolant loop diverter valve.

As shown in the video hardly any heat comes out of the feet, or the top vent. With zero from dash vents. Its also sure not 5 minutes to be warm ..

Using the app is not a solution when I just want to jump into the truck and have warm air. In the platinums case i shouldn't have to manually fiddle with it , on this trim and others we paid to have auto climate thats is not a pos.

Also what is "cold" my garage when testing was like 60F.. I dont think that should be cold enough to require defrost?

Yeah, if you “start climate” or set a departure time it’s blowing air as hard as it can out of every crevice which works fine for me but I also agree with majerus that we should be able to recreate that kind of air easily if we see fit for the occasion. “They are my miles and I’ll use them how I please” 😂

Upon arriving at home I noticed the fairly high climate number on the trip. 27 is about as high as I get with this trip and a note that the air had slowed down as the cabin had warmed quite a bit since I started the trip. It may be on the conservative side but definitely for a reason if it’s really drinking that much juice.

Was it warm after your drive? What did you set your climate to as a target?

So I found when set to high the heat works reasonably well, but set it to 75, and it gets a bit cold.

I ran a test. I manually turned up the fan. It feels to me that the drivers side has substantially less air flowing to it (almost none). Can anyone else verify whether their truck operates the same?

What do you mean by drivers side? The dashvents , floor or defrost?

I’ve noticed now that it’s getting cold, the heat in my 2024 lariat is not great. I am often cold. I have to really blast the heat to get the cabin to feel warm, and then when I put it back on auto, it gets cold again. I am in the Pacific Northwest, and so by cold I only mean 40 to 45° Fahrenheit.

I first thought that maybe it was because there are so many windows and the cabinet is big. Then I noticed online that other people are having a similar issue. Note that I have a Mach E as well, and that car has no issues whatsoever.

I am currently traveling and rented a lightning (I like feeling like I am at home.),, so I guess I will test the heat this morning to see whether it is the same as my lightning.

The 2024 has a heat pump, so I would assume that the heat would be better and not worse. Any thoughts?

I sent a DM. It would be great to know whether anyone else with a ‘24 is having a similar experience.
I noticed in my truck when I turned up the heater that it would not get very warm until I went back into the fan setting and made sure that the “heat “ was clicked on and that I turned off driver focused helped. The touch screen is very sensitive and lots of times the road bumps change it when you try to turn it on. Once I learned to double check that the heat was clicked on it worked Although it takes a quite a bit longer to get hot than an ice engine truck. I hope this helps.
