Backup Passcode Failure

Curious if others have seen this. Yesterday I managed to leave the house without my FOB (just forgot it somehow). PAAK just worked like it should so I did not notice my FOB was missing. On the return trip I got "No Key Detected" despite the ford app running and connecting through Android Auto. Remote unlock worked. Remote climate worked. Keypad entry worked.

So I go to try my backup passcode and it fails. Eventually after rebooting my phone and fiddling with the app PAAK works and I am on my way. Frustrating, and a good lesson in why not to trust PAAK but ok.

Now I go to reset my backup passcode this morning and that fails. Deleting it fails. Creating a new one fails. All just give me messages that I need to contact the dealer. Anyone else see this? Doe I really need to go into a dealer to reset my backup passcode?

Well all I can say is that the CSP warning for Android users of phone as a key stated to not delete the phone.

I’m on latest developer iOS 18.3 (22D5040d) on my phone. I’ve not been able to get my backup start password to work since this past summer for unknown reasons. Frustrated that it seems that one has to delete the PAAK and/or phone, door keypad code etc unless I am misunderstanding the instructions given to be to reset the backup start password. Has to be an easier solution. I’ll try to mess with mine again more this weekend.
Did you have any luck yet OP…?

I have not touched it since I started this thread, My next step (unless someone posts a better idea) is to delete / reset the PAAK on my phone an keep my fingers crossed. In the past I have found that is more trouble than it's worth so I may just live without a passcode. It's proven unreliable anyhow and I tend to believe that if your backup is unreliable it might as well not exist.

Google Pixel phones don't seem to be affected by this. My PAAK has been working like it always has. I occasionally will have to reboot my phone and turn everything works again. I only have to reboot every couple of months.

On the Mach-E forum, a few diehards insist that PAAK is reliable. Some of them have had to Uber home to get FOBS...

I will never trust it.

My truck currently doesn't work with the backup password. It fails every time. Paak works, however is more glitchy as of late. Pixel 9pro/android. Never been stranded though. Force close/reopen the app works every time

You may have to use the factory code to reset your passcode. There are videos that show how to recover the factory code if you don't have it on the printed card that came with truck. Just need two key fobs to recover the code.

Funny thing is my PAAK has never failed me….…yet…
I’ve forgotten my fob many times and never missed it until I get AirTag alert saying fob keychain left behind. I use the door keypad to lock truck 99% of time.
PAAK unlocks as I reach for door handle.
Between the watch or phone app I’m usually covered. So do you this I figured I’d test my backup password to start vehicle and that’s when recently I realized Houston we have a problem lol.
I’ve just been reluctant to don’t fix it if it ain’t broke on the backup password issue.
lol we will see, if I get bored enough and remember I’ll share my luck back if I get a resolution figured out.

I have that code. I'm not sure how that code comes into play with testing the backup pass but I'll explain how it happened. I was adding my wife's phone as a second paak, and the system said I needed to have a password on the first paak before I add the second paak (which it already had).

This broke my original password. There's more to it but this is the gist. I've not gotten around to factory resetting and starting from scratch

Get a Faraday bag for your key fob and keep it in the truck
This has saved my butt multiple times!

That’s for the door code, not the backup start passcode.
