Charging cable run under garage door

Has anyone one come up with a good way to run their ford charging cable under the garage door. I park my new flash outside the garage and just had my charger installed today. I’ve noticed that the garage door doesn’t close all the way and I also want to try and protect the cable.

My garage door had one small ~2” section missing the lower seal at the doors left edge. I wrapped the charging cable tightly with inner tube rubber and secured with a wrap of duct tape. Always set the cable in the side and thus placed it w/in the seal gap. I did this for a few months until I relocated the charger and parked the truck in the garage.

Some folks have installed a small thru-the-wall door in the wall (think dryer vent). I have found the size of the rubber bulb on the bottom of the door makes a difference, I can close the door at home without any apparent damage to the cable, altho I lay a similar diameter pipe nipple next to the cable just in case, and the seal is tight enough to discourage mice.

I’ve been considering this as a solution. My garage has a concrete lip that the door closes in front of, I’m not sure how well the Undoor would work without grinding a little concrete on the lip. From an install video it seems like I’d need to install something of similar height on the other side so the door stays even. I could make a block at home with a rubber plug to mimic the function.

We have been swapping which EV is parked inside based on which one needs to charge, option B is to charge the Lightning outside with the garage door open on a weekend day when we are home.

No need to have something else with similar height on the other side, as as long as you use the proper gasket, and you set the garage door stopping point. Worst case scenario, is that you add a second Undor to the other side. They come in a box of two anyway.

The rubber on the door is short so I just put a 3/4 board next to the cable and put the cable next to the rail to prevent the door from possibly hitting the cable

I had this before getting my charger installed outside and it works flawlessly. You have to use this, it protects the sheathing and prevents premature wear and failure.

Their website and installation videos recommend installing both to prevent garage door damage. Not a big deal, but I’d never use one on the opposite side of the door away from the charger.

This is the answer. It's a permanent solution, doesn't damage the door or cable, and keeps critters out. The only downside is you have to adjust the door and install a new seal. It's a one or two hours job. Some people might not be comfortable doing that.

I have the Undor system too and it works great. The door seal was a pain in the butt, not the end of the world though. And I only have one side installed, with the new seal and adjusting the travel it seals up pretty well.

I did not change the seal out, felt it was unnecessary and the door still maintained water tightness and no bugs ever got in. I would just use this protector and call it a day.
