So I just got notified by the IRS that I elected to transfer my EV Tax credit to them. But at the time of sale, they told me they could not do that and wasn't set up for it and that I could claim it when I file. Is this something dealerships can do without my approval and just lie about it?
Here's the other issue. The IRS gave me the vin of the vehicle but it doesn't match up with my vehicle. So I'm thinking either the dealership just put down the wrong VIN and the dealership claimed my credit or somehow that other vin got attached to my info (which is unlikely bc I think the vehicle was several states away).
Has anyone dealt with anything like this?
