I'm up for my 10K service, except, I don't know which Service centers are reputable - i.e. know anything about Lightnings as I bought mine out of state. Is there a list on this forum somewhere that rates which SC's are better for Lightnings than others?

Since there are over 3,000 Ford dealers, no.

You can lookup dealers that are EV qualified on the Ford site, then read reviews, or search their name here and see if someone posted about them.

I have 26,000 miles on my PRO, and have no reason or requirement for any 'checkup' at any Ford dealer, or any shop for that matter - there is nothing to check. Until my tires need to be replaced in the 80,000 mile range, I'll not be stopping at any shops.

I would at least check your battery coolant level. A lot of people are finding it low.

Thanks - that's what I was looking for - did not know ford had a list of EV qualified service centers.

I had a tire rotation, but I bought the tire warranty so this was free. They gave me a premium maintenance warranty because I had so much trouble with my charging station. It pays for a number of items in addition to the basic warranty. They found that the front light bar had a recall notice so they fix that. I’ve had problems with my phone charging pad and there was also a bulletin in December so the dealer performed an update. Previously the charging pad was only available for iPhone 12 and Older. However, when I tried to install my phone, I found that the iPhone 14 will not adhere/stay on the pad and it just slides off into the bottom of the tray. I don’t know how you would ever get a phone to adhere to that pad. It should have some sort of stop to cradle the phone there. It’s also hard to access since it’s down in a hole. It’s difficult to place. I think this is a real issue.

It’s amazing how clueless people are about routine maintenance on electric vehicles. Of course you can just get away with just rotating the tires, for a while, but that’s not really performing the scheduled maintenance on your Lightning. 10,000 mile scheduled maintenance from the owner’s manual includes inspecting brake pads, rotors, hoses and parking brake; inspecting half-shaft boots; inspecting steering linkage, ball joints, suspension, tie-rod ends, drive shafts and u-joints; inspecting wheels and related components for noise, wear and drag; perform multi-point inspection; rotate tires, inspect tire wear and measure tread depth; and inspect cooling system level and strength.

The multipoint inspection includes checking 12V Battery performance; checking radiator, cooler, heater and air conditioning hoses; checking exterior lamps and hazard warning system operation; checking suspension components for leaks or damage; checking fluid levels, fill if necessary; checking for fluid leaks; checking for windshield for cracks, chips or pits; checking horn operation; and checking washer spray and wiper operation. Checking the reduction gear (transmission) fluid levels is probably the most difficult and overlooked maintenance item because you have to get under the truck and pull the skid plates to get to the reduction gears. Most maintenance shops will want to sell you their boiler plate scheduled maintenance package that will most likely have a lot of things that are not on the owner’s manual scheduled maintenance list and will most likely miss many things that are on the owner’s manual scheduled maintenance list.

Just running around the car doing all the checks can take an hour or more if it’s done right even for someone that knows what he’s doing. I would be very skeptical of a $20 scheduled maintenance package. I think $150 might be a reasonable cost for a real scheduled maintenance package.

After trying several times on my EVs to get a real scheduled maintenance service I gave up and started doing my own scheduled maintenance based on the owner’s manual. I bought service manuals so I could do things like checking the gear reduction fluid the right way. If you are going to have a dealer perform the scheduled maintenance, then I recommend that you ignore the scheduled maintenance package and have the dealer develop an itemized scheduled maintenance package that strictly adheres to the owner’s manual scheduled maintenance list.

Just had my 10k service at John North Ford in Emporia KS. No charge! Pretty happy with that service!

Did you get a list of the service items? Did the list include all the service items in the owners manual? Did they check the reduction gear fluid level?

They said they checked all fluids & rotated tires. I didn’t get a list of what was completed.

I will be scheduling my 10K service soon. In addition to the regular service, did anyone have their dealer check other items (not warranty repairs) such as software updates that are not OTA?

Mine will apply updates anytime I bring it in. I don’t get charged for it. I don’t think that’s typical.

I've got mine scheduled and had them add the "click" TSB. I'm thinking about asking them to get the front light bar aligned a little better.

Good luck. My service center laughed at me when I asked them to do the 10k checkup while it was in for a repair. When they saw I was serious, they said they would. I can't say for certain what they did, but I got the truck back fully operational with a recommendation of a possible wheel alignment in the future.
