And to think that my
Dealership wanted me to Pay to replace the whole system as that was the only way to get rid of the fault message! Glad I passed on that one.
Uhhhhh
Even if that was the only way that would've been covered under warranty. Sounds like they didn't want to actually do the work

If that was the case I might have gone thru with it and unlikely as it seemed as I have been getting those since I took delivery but they informed me that it would not be covered and I was to pay out of pocket. As always, thanks for the good information!

I've replaced several on ICE trucks that were not warranty but they were due to impact from roadkill or curbs. I've never replaced one under warranty.

Got this error today... 2500mi. But I'm in socal, happened at 40 mph driving to the freeway in 70 degree weather (sorry rest of the country).

When I parked 15 min later, it opened and closed a few times, finally deciding to stay closed.

Maybe its a feature??

That isn't the Active Air Dam.

The active air Dam is a large piece that extends below the bumper at higher speeds. Those are shutters to allow air to flow through the angle mounted radiator, they open and close as needed.

Google will show you videos.

got covered with slush and turned into a big ice brick. The service team member even commented that they have no idea why they don’t make a cover for these motors for this exact reason. They are going to replace it under warranty, except for the fact that they are back ordered with no ETA. Oh well.

On a positive note they are going to fix the clicking on all four axles when they get the parts in for the TSB. So that’s a win.

So, they are just going to put another one on so it too can turn into an ice brick? These trucks costs way too much money to have design flaws like this. :(

My dealer said they couldn' diagnose this as the faults weren’t active. Luckily as I was driving away I got the fault. I turned around and didn’t acknowledge the fault or turn off the truck and gave it back to them. They determined that one of the motors needs to be replaced. It is warranty work, but like another poster mentioned the parts are on back order. The good news is that other than a small hit to efficiency, this doesn’t really impact the truck.

That’s what they dealership told me. Not gonna judge the profession but I can see ZERO damage to any part of the shutters. Add to that, ever time I plug the truck it it cycles completely opened and closed without issue

They are definitely getting replaced under warranty, but only the ones that have the fault and no damage. And because the fault is purely software, the replacement part is going to do the same thing. Which means all this is doing is wasting good parts, making parts shortages worse, driving up warranty costs, causing further issues down the road.
The software fix should hopefully be approved in a few weeks

The shutters are not the active air dam.

The active air dam is a giant piece that is about as wide as the truck that extends down below your bumper only above certain speeds. Those shutters have nothing to do with it.

Google will help if you want an idea what it looks like.

Well son of a gun. I had no idea my truck had a retractable mustache.

Those shutters control airflow to an angled radiator (angled so the frunk could fit and be a big as it is).
