Were the battery diverter valve, battery modules, and heater related?

What seat covers were replaced? Why were they replaced?

Did the power tailgate just die?

What was broken in the charge port? The door?

Battery valve was at around 8k miles, modules were at 19k miles

Heater had air in the lines. Truck sounded like it had running water under the dashboard

tailgate just happened not sure what’s causing it to click when it goes up

seat covers kept disconnecting from the frame and now it’s a wrinkled loose mess compared to the other.

the flap to fast charge wouldn’t open. So they had to replace the entire charge port

Yeah, since COVID I feel like the vehicle quality and dealer experiences have taken such a dive and at this point I don't know what the excuse is. My 2021 F-150 funny enough was almost perfect. When I picked it up the wireless CarPlay and hotspot didn't work because of a module programming issues that impacted a batch of trucks, but they were able to fix it in an hour once an FDRS update was released by Ford. Didn't have another issue with the truck after.

Then I got my 2023, almost identical equipment. The turn signal stalk would stick when doing a lane change left, the brake peddle creaked, which was always a bit concerning even if it was just a noise, you don't like your brake pedal sounding stressed. It had two recalls (the 2021, also a PowerBoost, had none), and the interior cabin made more noise than my 2021 did. Not squeaks or rattles, but just like... things were loose.

I gave up on taking it to the dealer because it was a week minimum for anything.

I was happy to be rid of it and get my 2024 Plat Lightning, which I want to make clear I still absolutely love so far, but on the first day I got it my massaging seat on the driver side doesn't work. It worked when I left the dealer, but a couple hours later, nothing. I don't really want to hand it back to the dealer for a week+ for this. If I knew it would just be a day or two like it used to be, great.

I love Ford and prefer my F-150 to the other options out there, when things are working they are still the best. But I have owned maybe 15 Ford vehicles between mine and my wife's, and for years we could say we had hardly any issues, maybe a recall every couple years or something. Now it feels like the issues, and time it takes to resolve them, is out of hand.

The list of problems with my Lightning is long. Bad high voltage battery module. Low voltage battery module. Home Integration system not working. Phone as a Key working and then not working. Rear Light bar fogging. Now it has the mis-aligned electrode, as a added convenience is to only charge the truck to 80% to prevent the possibility of catching fire. A few random powertrain reduced to 56%, easy fix just turn off the truck and re-start. The sad thing is that the Rivian I own, which was manufactured by a new company has had zero issues. Go figure.

That is interesting, I wonder if these are somehow related?

On the subject of this thread, our Pro has been flawless and trouble free ... of course it is a "plain Jane" with just the basics.

Trust me, it is NOT just vehicle quality that has gone downhill. I am seeing that widespread across multiple industries.

Sad.

I think for a first model run, Ford nailed it given the timeframe and logistical constraints stemming from COVID. Rivian was founded in 2009 and began development in 2011 with this first commercially produced truck coming off the assembly line in.... checks notes... 10 years later.

Things that broke on my launch day lariat
- Apim Module
- motorized tailgate rod exploded
- running board / step plastic has been bulging since day 1
- center speaker grill bulge- also on delivery
-charge station pro stopped working after almost three years
- steering column motor is currently throwing codes but works.

Dollars spent on repairs - $0
Downtime in the shop - 2 days ( plus 45 days of wireless CarPlay not working but wired CarPlay did ) 2 weeks for charge station pro
Mileage - 83,000
Satisfaction level out of 10 -10 .

What Ford BEV team did for me without me asking. - gave me an additional 36,000 ile extended warranty because of the APIM and 40,000 ford pass points because of the charge station pro

2022 XLT 312a SR:
-Navigation goes wacky by many miles, intermittently last couple of years, even after dealer attempted fix, so cannot trust that truck knows that it is at Home charging to set level of 80%. Hoping TSB 25-2048 updating several computer modules might fix, but I still think it is a hardware problem.
-Have long worried about a HV Battery Module failing, but SOH at 99%, to find out that I am part of Safety Recall 25S18, HV Battery Electrode Misalignment.
-Several quirks, but OTA software updates have relieved most of them.
Love the, to me, insane acceleration, and limosine size room, although I could give up 6 inches in the passenger area for a 6 inch longer bed. Wish for rear wheel steering to cut the turning radius. Forget the carpeting, just put in a thick rubber mat!

With both main issues (apim and charge station pro ) I called the 1-800 number and asked to speak to the bev team . I was polite . I didn't ask for anything other to get my issue fixed and when it was resolved during rhe follow up call at the end they just offered these things as a good will gesture .

Wow. That is most unfortunate. We have a '23 lariat er and have had no issues at all.

I had the absolute polar opposite experience. We had a LE Rivian R1T and it had several problems. Rivian was unable to resolve some of them (hood flutter, interior light issues). Then Rivian started telling me they would flatbed any issues to the nearest SC (which is 4hrs away) but after they fixed the issue I had to pay to ship it back as it would be assumed to be fixed. Which btw, they tried to charge me but the fix they attempted did not work(3 attempts for one issue).

Conversely my Lightning has been trouble free so far.

The Rivian service experience was so bad I sold the R1T within 6 months. I've owned well over 60 cars and have what I believe to be realistic expectations. But that was so terrible that I doubt I will give them another chance.

Really goes to show how one person's experience isn't necessarily indicative of a systemic issue. Though it can be.

Damn, I have a 24 Flash and have had zero issues, though I'm only around 5k miles. I do have a slight rattle when it gets really hot in the cab. It's on the passenger side and by the time I get the AC going it goes away.
