Anyone know if Android 14 fixed this? I don't usually like to update right away but if Android 14 fixes the issue that would be wonderful.
Cany anyone confirm?

Unfortunately no. I've got a Pixel 6 so we get Android updates right away and it was still doing it today for me.

I discovered another fun little glitch with Sync and my iPhone 14 this past weekend. Like most other folks, when my phone is connected via bluetooth and I get a phone call, the audio is garbled and I have to switch my phone to speaker and back to bluetooth to get it work properly. This past weekend I was on a call and received second call on my other line. I chose the option to drop the original call and accept the incoming one. After hanging up with the second call, my display went back to Sirius/XM but I didn't have any audio. Used the steering wheel controls to try and change the channel but nothing. Tried changing the channel via the display, still nothing. My display was completely frozen. I couldn't connect to Amazon/Apple music. Nothing from Sirius. Tried to make an outbound call and no bluetooth connectivity with Sync. Completely frozen display/no audio whatsover. I had to pull over, shut the truck off and open the door to reset everything. Thought it was a fluke, until it happened again the next day. Exact same scenario, exact same fix. While I'm sure it's pretty far down the list of bugs Ford needs to fix, I hope they get to it soon because it's pretty damn annoying.

Hi there! Will you send us a message with your VIN and your local Ford dealer? I can look into things on my end.

Ford, as you can see there is a major Android issue (as it is in this thread)- do you have a response to what the issue is and if it is being addressed.

I appreciate Ford's attempt to engage via this forum, but my interactions via this channel has been pathetic. I replied with my VIN and dealer for this issue and all they wanted to talk about was light bar recall and have I taken my vehicle to the dealer for the Android issue.

I switched phones to a Pixel Fold and have had MUCH better luck with it. I have been able to make calls without issue.

What I think the difference is, is that I did not pair my phone with the car through bluetooth. I just connected it via cable and had android auto pop up. After that, it still connects to android auto wirelessly. But I never went through the sync menu to add the phone through bluetooth.

Can someone double check me and see if this works for them?

I'm still having this issue through numerous OS updates. How is this not addressed on a 100K vehicle? I literally have to manually toggle the F150 Speaker/Phone Speaker button to get audio to come through when I make outgoing calls.

This is absurd. My 1990 Toyota that I connected my phone to via cassette player worked better than this.

I got a Ford update this morning. So far it seems as though this android issue has been fixed with that update!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed! The update mentions nothing about any phone updates but hopefully this fixed the issue.

All I know is after the update I no longer have to toggle back and forth.

The message on my car says priority update 23-PU1103-NAT-VCE.

It also made me reauthorize Android Auto.

I'll have to check to see if my Lightning got that update. Android auto is a train wreck for me. it literally never works the same way twice in row.

But the bluetooth outgoing call thing is a disaster, I need to be able to use the phone in the car to make calls, and it literally doesn't work.

It seems to be somewhat improved in the Mach E we have, but its still unreliable.

All I get is static (for the ringing or a voice answering or my voice to another phone) when making or receiving a call. I have not tried the steering wheel phone speaker button, if that is what folks are referring to. Button is lower, just left of center is the "talking face" (voice interaction button)? Not the lower, just right of center, "phone handset"?

Update 4-24: with Android Auto, used phone app to switch to phone speaker (if a caller would be patient for the switch) and that worked, but kind of weak volume at max. Not sure fastest method to switch if not using AA.

Update 5-2-24: Tried my wife's Moto G Power (2020?), same model as my unit, and did not get the static, call was normal. My phone is a warranty replacement, refurbished phone, so I wonder if that caused the problem, but I cannot find the dates of the replacement phone and the start of static noise on calls. Maybe a full factory reset might work, but I am not looking forward to reloading everything without a guarantee of a better outcome, but maybe. I do have a shaky arrow on the Ford Navigation screen and have lost Ford Nav at times, but again, is it just my phone. I did a restart of the phone and the navigation worked again...but Ford Nav should be separate from any dependence on the phone, I would think. Good excuse to get a new phone and latest Android operating system?

Just in case this is helpful.

My spouse had the same issue only for incoming calls in a 2017 Cmax with Sync 3.0 and it was difficult to find a solution, but this seemed to work. In Sync Settings change the ringtone to Phone ringtone. Any other choice would cause the issue of not hearing the other party in the car audio. I might have it backwards one which one could hear. It has been a while.

It does appear to be an issue in Sync and Android Auto I think. Not sure if this carried over from Sync 3 to Sync 4 / 4a or not. But it sounded pretty familiar.

Hopefully the update will resolve the issue without needing the work around suggested.

Good luck!
