Well, at work last night I plugged in the level 1 evse to a generator that happened to be in for a pm check. It was on charge for 6 hours. And going by just the gage, it didn't warm the battery at all. It was 1° last night. So. Maybe with a monitor it went up a couple degrees, but on the dash gage couldn't see any movement.

I apologize if this has already been addressed in this thread, but my question is... If the only way we currently have to precondition the battery for charging is through navigating to a DCFC and I decide NOT to purchase a third rate product (the Ford navigation).

How will I precondition my battery in the future?

Possible answer: Ford, give us a way to manually precondition our battery for charging.

From watching the different trucks on everything from L1 to FCSP this past month of arctic cold - the L1 does keep battery at low end of Blue on the 23s. If you have access to a 120 follow the always be charging mantra in winter.

I call out year as 24s have different battery logic then 23s. In Fordpass on the 23s once charged they show 0 charging rate and other then programmed departure times I never see unscheduled messaging for conditioning. However batteries are staying in blue as long as plugged so some heating is occuring.

On the 24s at full charge it continuously shows the <1kw so trucks are constantly pulling a small amount and regularly show unscheduled conditioning.

This is all at -35C /-20 F exterior temps. Either due to heat pumps operation or Ford has become more battery pack protective but the 24s definitely heat more and more often.

My 2022 does spontaneous battery conditioning at the command of the BMS, several times this week it's been around the 6 to 7 am time frame when it's coldest. When this happens Fordpass displays that the cabin & battery are being prepared.

Sunday afternoon charging session for 13 kWh, put a lot of heat in the pack, so there was no need to add more heat early or late Monday, the power output limiter was still at 100%

Then early Tuesday a little after 2 am it did a 2 kWh warming session, that afternoon another when I plugged in for the night, another 2 kWh.

Wednesday morning 4 to 5 am another brief session pulling 1.9 kWh

Thursday early morning it called for 2.1 kWh around 6:30 am timeframe
