I'm at 28k miles
Anyone have guidance on when to replace front pads.
Put on new Michelin's at 21k.
I know it's heavy and it ate cheap Hankooks pretty fast. I know about regenerative braking.
Still.....who has done any brakes work

The truck has disc brakes on all four wheels.

Calipers, pads, rotors. Just like any other disc brake system out there.

Check pad life, check rotors for corrosion or glazing. Lubricate brake caliper pins.

Non regen vehicles can go for 100k km's before needing pads, unlikely to need pads anytime soon on the lightning.

53,000 miles and no need for anything... tires are looking almost new, and Ford's service department said that brake pads show 7/8...

Thanks.

Hoping for owner who has had to do a brake job and at what interval.

I just had my truck in for inspection. After 2 years, I'm at 37,000 miles and still have 8mm left. New brake pads start at between 10-12mm, so we have a long time if you replace at 3-4mm.

There are more Lightning owners who have replaced battery modules than brakes. They are still a wear item but just barely.

Here's my long term experience with EV brakes from my 2017 Focus Electric. Not quite the same as what happens with a 3-ton truck, but one should be able to scale accordingly...

I only had the front brakes done at about 133,000 km (82,600 miles) with mostly city driving. The pads had nearly 4 mm of thickness, but the rotors were getting somewhat pock marked.

For comparison with the same driving habbits, we had a 2013 ICE Focus and it needed ALL four brakes done at about 65,000 km and again at about 129,000 km.

I just had the FFE brakes serviced (cleaning/adjusting) at 160,000 km (100,000 miles). The front pads are just over 9 mm while the rear (factory original) pads are only down to 7 mm.

There is nothing different about changing pads on an ev. Nothing active when turned off. ABS is off, regen is off. Nothing to do except take off the wheels and figure out how Ford does their calipers/ Most modern brakes only require one of the bolt remove to rotate the caliper away from the disc.

I use 1pd and my foot rarely even touches the brake pedal. I expect my brake pads will last the life of the truck. Am I wrong?
