2024 F-150 Lightning Flash
Hello all,

Recently I bought my F-150 Lightning Flash and I noticed that my range wasn't where I thought it would be. After looking at the window sticker I noticed that it came with the max tow package and the BSW All-Terrain Tires. While the tires do have good grip, I'd prefer to replace them with a standard set of all season/summer tires; and then use the BSW AT tires in the winter (where I live, I suspect we won't be getting much, if any, deep snow again for this season). I was looking at Costco and I thought the Michelin - Defender LTX M/S2 looked quite well for what I'm looking for. I primary drive in the city, and sometimes on long road trips (500 miles round trip); therefore I do like tires that are quiet and efficient, I'm willing to trade some efficiency for quietness/smoothness as well.
Earlier I did consider swapping to 18in tires/rims, like the standard Pro trim has. However, upon further research here, I don't believe it would be worthwhile to properly manage and the efficiency gains wouldn't be that much of a overall gain. If any of y'all have any recommendations on other tires, or what I've looked at, feel free to reply to this.

Thanks!

P.S. - This is my first post here, sorry if I'm asking an already answered question :p

All terrain tires can lower mileage range. But, what range are you getting now?

Michelin Defenders are a solid choice.

Here is what I'm averaging current on the Ford App in low 40F to mid 50F temps with 20 mph winds on average. I live in central IL where it is generally flat and open.

I was thinking more of miles/kWh. Do you have the extended battery (130kWh)?

That is a guess. What is your actual efficiency?

I’ve got 8k miles on the Defenders, tire is exceptional.
Did you notice any change in efficiency versus the OEM tires? I’m considering going with these or the OEM Goodyear. Also read some reports that the Michelin could produce more road noise due to being a stiffer tire.

I honestly don't know, I'm remembering per my drive I average 2.1 KW/hr.
2.1 isn't that bad for this time of year. You might not gain much switching tires. It will be up to you if the expense is worth it. Defenders are a good option, but will be over $1,000. I have the General Grabber AS tires on my truck from the factory. A lot of people don't care for them, but they have worked for me. I've got 60k miles on them and are getting close to needing replaced. They cost about 2/3 of the Defenders.

Your miles/kWh ratio will show up on the IPC screen when You click thru the center display choices.

The m/kWh display is a more accurate gauge of driving energy efficiency than the SOC percentage/miles remaining display once we get used to reading it because the 1st one is factual, while the 2d one is an estimate.

I'm a fan of the Bridgestone dueler ascent A/T I put on mine. Just as quiet and smooth, averaging 2.7mpk in city commute all winter (southern AZ temps). I got them for $280/ea
