I think everyone goes through this headache when your charger is installed. For some reason the charger has to have the latest firmware installed and the 2 ways this can happen is by ā€œforcing itā€ to try to install it faster by turn off your breaker for 10+ minutes and then turning it back on and checking the charger or by supposedly waiting for that update to finally reach your charger over night through ā€œover the airā€ update from Ford. I found the easiest way to get it to update faster is by turning the breaker off a few times for 10+ minutes each and it eventually worked like it was suppose to.

I'm having the same issue. Just had my Ford Charger Pro installed as well, charged fine for a few minutes then suddenly dropped to 3.2. I will check my firmware version.

This is exactly what i did. Multiple resets with intervals.

The FCSP is capable of 80 amps continuous on a 100 amp circuit & breaker combo.

But if there isn't a need for the full capacity ie. model year 2024 Lightnings, then it's perfectly normal to install for 48 amps continuous load on a 60 amp circuit & breaker.
ha, yesā€¦ true. However last year when I had this exact same issue, two Ford CSR and their manager insisted that a 60amp installation was all the proof they needed that my issue was due to improper installation. (And refused to listen to ā€œitā€™s in the manual, itā€™s in the marketingā€). Luckily, whatever it was, it fixed itself.. either by the ā€œunwrapping the cord trickā€ or a perfectly timed OTA update. Itā€™s was the worst customer service experience of my life, and Iā€™m glad they are no longer point blank blaming it on the customer.

Just wanted to mention that I too had this same issue and, after myriad conversations with Ford/QMerit/the electrician who did the installation, Ford told me about the "known issue" and had me disconnect the charge station from my FordPass account. No clue why that would be necessary but it seemed to work.

FYI, the Ford rep I spoke with was reading directly from an internal Ford memo telling me what the necessary steps were: disconnect the breaker for 5m, remove the charge station within the app, turn the breaker back on. And, yes, I had cycled the breaker probably 5x previously and that alone never fixed the problem...

Great thread. My FCSP arrived two hours ago. My expected project for this weekend is to replace the 6-50 outlet that I temp installed a few weeks ago and install the FCSP (and replace the breaker with a 60 amp). Yes, I installed the 6-50 with wire sized for the 60A circuit and I am qualified to do so myself.

I'm in the south too. That sounds like a pretty sweet setup. You wanna be friends? šŸ™‚

Would it create any problem as a 2023 owner if I install one of these chargers at my 2700 sqftā€™ cabin on a 100amp breaker but then chose to dial it down to the 48amp setting on the selector dial at a later time.? I am considering that as a possibility as we are all electric on a 200amp panel. Our panel is close to being maxed out now. We are looking at adding a large hot tub at a future date. Dropping the amps Iā€™m thinking might help if we get the new hot tub later in the year.
