When I show new folks my lightning, I open the Frunk, and POP the aux battery cover and say that that is what the truck runs on, they look at it in disbelief, then a moment later realize I'm joshing them...

No issues, except for curiosity. I do get a lot of ribbing from the guys on the drilling rigs. Then again, I also run under the radar, especially with the specialty Oil and Gas plates I ordered for it. People get a kick out of it.

Those that knew the truck with the funk closed and asked me about it were all already excited about it.

Those taillights are huge. Some idiot parked next to you probably was moving a shovel out and didn't handle it well.

Agreed, definitely a situation where someone was being stupid and hit it, went around to see it, realized how badly they messed up, panicked, and fled.

Yeah, I've noticed haters keep their distance, fans will come right up to you. I own a maverick hybrid, a genuine game changer. I've dealt with some dicks, mostly idiots in full size trucks, but I've also met people who think the maverick is awesome. It's just how life is.

That is one of the most sensible trucks out there. In fact, even as a BEV, that size truck with better aerodynamics makes more sense to me than Lightning.
I enjoy the extra space of Lightning 1% of the time but deal with the extra inconvenience of it's size every day. A BEV maveric or may be even ranger is a much better daily driver. I miss the zippiness of my old Frontier even though it had only 140 HP.

Aside from people swarming around when I open the frunk, I'm basically invisible. In rural areas, you blend right in. I haven't received any negative reaction in 20k miles and 10 months of ownership.

The only problem that I have encountered is other pickup trucks peacocking on the road and trying to press me into a little highway pull contest. Sometimes, I take the bait and then, I disappear like the Millennium Falcon.

I've had positive interactions from people in different grocery store parking lots. Most approached me, after putting groceries in the frunk. I then gave them a mini tour on the different features of the truck. Most left impressed, especially after telling them I just plug in while parked in the garage over night and ready to go the next morning, especially after comparing the cost of household electricity vs a gallon of gasoline.

I also park far away from the store entrance, with several empty lots between me and the next vehicle. The truck is big and I don't want anyone banging their car door into my truck.

This is me. I park so far away from other vehicles, I'm sure I get stares. None of my vehicles has door dings, because I do a good job of avoiding them.

I kinda arm twisted my brother/father into a Lighting in a rather red part of Kansas, -- so far my bro is reporting generally decent interactions. I took the truck out for opening day of pheasant season last fall, and the initial ribbing was expected. But the guys were generally civil. And then we piled on 4 guys inside and 6 or so in the bed and they were like "gee, feels like a truck" and all was good.

Show them the outlets in the bed, and explain the Frunk if they are listening and you will have them curious. That's what we aim for -- curious instead of hating.....

Had my model Y keyed while in an EV spot at the casino. No provocation other than it being an EV.

I have video of the douchebag doing it, called the cops... they didn't care.

We do not have to get a special EV plate in Montana ... but do have to pay an extra $170 on top of all the other taxes/ fees for annual registration.
