I finally got around to doing the IPMA update today. It took about 3 hours but was otherwise uneventful. There did not seem to be any configuration errors, but after it was done I cleared/retested for DTCs and reran the IPMA configuration tool anyway. I did briefly get a SSN message on the IPC toward the end but it cleared on its own and never came back. I did not have to disconnect the 12V for anything.

Like others, the PSCM update installed but did not clear from the list afterward. I did a quick test drive and BlueCruise engaged and seemed to work normally.

It sure is nice when things work as they should.

PSA: I recommend to not update the IPMA until further notice. While only a very small percentage of trucks are being affected, the ones that do get affected will lose lane centering and bluecruise indefinitely. At first, we thought the issue was only affecting the hybrid F150's, but that we know of, at least one Lightning and now three ICE F150's are also affected. Today alone, two new cases popped up on the F150 forum. There is no fix.....the dealer can't help. I have no idea if the OTA version causes an issue or not as no cases have been reported on the forums by the few that have gotten 1.4 via OTA as of yet.

Edit: And another one......

Well that's bad.

That sounds like it's broken right off the bat for them. Any reports of BC working and then failing later?

Hoping I'm in the clear since it worked during my brief test yesterday.

Actually......yes. BC has worked for a brief stint on the affected vehicles.

Hopefully they get it figured out sooner than later for everyone that’s experiencing problems. Knock on wood my BC 1.4 that was OTA updated back on 12-11-24 is still ok so far so perhaps FORD will send out a fix as an OTA.
..edit..
Yes as per “rugedraw” said, this is so far only the DIY FDRS crew that’s known to be affected.

To anyone that is affected by the issue, you would know if you were. This is just a warning for the DIY crew.

If the main goal of updating is to get the newer BC, then there is a risk associated with updating that module right now. It's a small risk, but it exists. If you're looking for a used Mongoose and you find a good deal, then buy it, but I would hold off. The fix requires unconventional methods that many people will not be comfortable with and the help of someone who I am trying to alleviate the burden of fixing all these trucks on.

Wait, are you saying that this is only related to Mongoose/J-whatever the number is-devices, and not updates done by Ford/VCM3 and or OTA (not sure if IPMAs are pushed through OTAs considering the time it takes).

Naturally the DYI guys are more likely to be affected since we update everything and more frequently than those who bring it in to Ford where they only update specific modules on a by needed basis.

As of now, the only cases I know of happened with the Mongoose and people doing it themselves, but this has nothing to do with the Mongoose itself.

I did this update a few weeks ago, but I do not use the mongoose. I have had no issues with blue Cruise! I used this:

I have purchased this in the meantime:

I don’t know if the work around is to use one of these for the fix but if it is, I would be willing to try to help anyone in the DFW area.

This is what you'll see right after you click "Run".
I saw that, but as far as software updates go you'd think it's a matter of it either works or it doesn't and not that "best results" could mean we'll brick certain functionality if you don't use a VCM3.
